Add a row to a spread sheet table issue.

Hi, I am not sure if this is a power automate issue or it is something within excel that is causing the problem.

I am using a Microsoft form data to add a row of data into a spreadsheet table with Add a row into a table flow command.  This is working fine and the information shows up correctly into the table (Table name is Audit_Responses).  Within another table (Table name is DPO_Table) I have formals that look at a row range of cells in the Audit_Responses Table.  The formula is  =COUNTA(Audit_Responses!D7:BT7) When I added the formula I copied it down 10 rows in anticipation for more information to be added to the Table with the Microsoft Form processing through the Flow.

As expected if I go down one row the formula changes to =COUNTA(Audit_Responses!D8:BT8) and continues down to =COUNTA(Audit_Responses!D15:BT15)

Here is the problem, When the row is added to the Audit_Responses table from the flow it deletes the formula in the DPO_Table

Before adding a row. DPO.JPG

You can see the formula in A4 is correct.

After adding the row to the table with the flow after.JPG

It has deleted or over written the =COUNTA(Audit_Responses!D9:BT9) with =COUNTA(Audit_Responses!D10:BT10)

On another note if I enter the information into the Table manually not with the automated flow everything works correct.

Anyone have an idea?

I am confused if whether this is a real bug or a good feature , what I believe is happening that excel is smart enough and when a row is added it understands that the count should expand to accommodate the new row added and I actually did a quick test on my side manually and it looks like it still changes the formula to accommodate the new column

Hi  @Mira_Ghaly

I think I have found out what is causing the problem just don’t know how to fix it.  When I was trying to simplify the process so I could explain it better to you I found the breaking point for my process.  The Table1  I am using to move the data into from the Form is 77 columns wide (A to BY).  When I was simplifying, I just made it 4 columns wide (A to D) everything worked.  I started adding more columns until it stopped working correctly and I got to BS (A to BS) as soon as I added BT it started changing the formula in the Table2 that references the Table1 Data.

If I copy the formula from the row 1 of Table2 and paste it down the table it fixes it, but the idea is to have this completely automatic.  I think I can record a script and run it from power automate to just re-pasted the formula as excel will overwrite the one that was changed and make it correct again.  Just not sure if this is the best way to go.

Maybe it is a timing issue with how power automate executes a flow, because if I do edits within the excel workbook manually there is no problem.  I am doing multilabel thigs within the flow maybe I should try and break that down too?

Thanks for your response.

Eric

I would say try the automated script
