Approval Attachments not Showing in Teams

Hi,

I am currently working on an Approval flow.  Currently I have the flow automatically triggering when a new list item is created in SharePoint.  Each list item is going to have an attachment.  I have retrieved the attachment content and added it to the Approval step as seen in the screenshot below:

Screen Shot 2021-02-12 at 8.55.12 AM.png

When the flow is triggered I get both an approval email as well as an approval request through Teams.  In the email the attachment is there, however in the Teams request there is no attachment.  From my understanding attachments in Teams approvals is currently supported so I am not sure why it is not showing any attachments through Teams.  Thanks!

I have spoken to Microsoft resources in Australia that focus on Power Automate and they state that this is a known issue and a resolution is underway, but I have been hearing this for more than a year.

Microsoft is this truly going to be resolved or is there no intention to support attachments on approvals in Teams that originated outside of Teams through Power Automate?

Well I did this work for me to show the attached file.

In order to do it I create the file not in sharepoint , I created on OneDrive.

I did it from an upload of a form.

Used parse json of the upload : this is the json to paste on schema:

{
    "type""array",
    "items": {
        "type""object",
        "properties": {
            "name": {
                "type""string"
            },
            "link": {
                "type""string"
            },
            "id": {
                "type""string"
            },
            "type": {},
            "size": {
                "type""integer"
            },
            "referenceId": {
                "type""string"
            },
            "driveId": {
                "type""string"
            },
            "status": {
                "type""integer"
            },
            "uploadSessionUrl": {}
        },
        "required": [
            "name",
            "link",
            "id",
            "type",
            "size",
            "referenceId",
            "driveId",
            "status",
            "uploadSessionUrl"
        ]
    }
}

Then used Get File content refering to the "ID" at the parsed JSON.

Create the file on a one drive location (the uploaded on the form file)

used the generic name of id and customer filled on the form+.pdf extension (if not is not readable or save without extention) for the name of the file and a one drive shared location for folder.

create a sharelink path refering to the file ( it has not been created until is submited so should use folder+ generic name on the previous step.

the fill the approval as in picture refering to web url.

The atachment is to have it aswell on e-mail, probably the web url works also but I made them on different times.

Hope this work for some of you, it did for my pourpose.

Allowed to share the folder of destiny from one drive with all organization.

Then I

January 2023 and still not yet resolved, will visit this next year
meanwhile will use item link stored in one drive....(ノ_<。)

Hi All,

Are there any updates on this, as I am having the same issue? I have created a flow through PA and appending an array of the file and content and my attachment is blank in the Start and Wait for approval connector. My PA email has the attachment and so I know I have attached correctly, there is just nothing in my Approval.

Hope this has been resolved, as I do not want to have my end users to have to reference the PA email.

Any advice would be appreciated.

It's now 2 full years later. Anyone know if this has been fixed yet?

Is there STILL no word from microsoft on this? Seems like attachments showing up in the Teams approvals would be a high priority, given the demand for such flows.

Two years later, this is still an issue. Does anyone know if microsoft is actually going to fix this? Seems attachments to approvals in Teams (via a flow) would be a priority?!

Has this been fixed?

I have received any advice that it has. Have not heard from Microsoft.

It is not fixed on the flows we are running. The attachment come through on the emails, but not on Teams.

Mine too, a screen shot below, however when you click on where attachment is, and I have said "here is the link", click on it as it does nothing. As I mention, in the Power Automate email the file is there, however I want user to access from teams. Defeats the purpose if they can't pull from approvals. I wish someone from Microsoft could explain how it works for some apparently!

I think you will need to change the approvals step to "Send an email with options" in the flow. Very frustrating that approvals does not add the attachment in teams, yet when you start an approval from within teams (non-powerautomate) you can add an attachment and send it to another person. If the technology is there. why is it not working from Power Automate?

Exactly. Well stated!

Typical microsoft, my org also rely heavily on the approval, and there are some things that they never improve:
1. when we daisy chain an approval, we cant change the notification from "final status: approved", its not final and we dont have ability to change it
2. notification setting in power automate will disable the email AND teams notification, we can make a custom notification using adaptive card/simple post but thats a waste of action, i prefer blocking the email from flow-noreply@microsoft.com

sorry ranting here 🤣
approval just not on their priority list

It is fixed in the preview version of the Windows Teams app. So I think as soon as the new Teams app is finally released, this problem is done after just a "short time" 😉

But in the Android Teams app, the attachements are still not viewable! 😞

This seems to be fixed. (?)
When we turned an approval flow back on after some down time, the attachments showed up in Teams.

Please post this as a new question.  You'll get more responses and others will be able to find the answer more easily later. Missing attachments in approvals was a bug up until recently, but it should be working now.
