Approval flow with comments

Hi,

I have created a workflow which takes new items added to a SharePoint libary, and sends them for approval through an "Start an approval" task. This approval task is sent to multiple persons and they are able to Approve/Reject and add own comments. This works fine. However, the problem I have is that I am not able to update the SharePoint item with these comments as I want. I have an append only comments field in SharePoint that I want to update with the approver comments from the "Start an approval" task.

The problem is that all the comments are added with my user (who has created the workflow). So even though the comments comes from two other users (approvers), it looks like I have added all the comments.

How to I solve this so that the comments are tagged with correct person name?

Thanks

Hi @ChristianL,

Could you please share a screenshot of your flow’s configuration?

Do the multiple approvers all need to make a response to the approval request?

I have made a test on my side and please take a try with the following workaround:

  • Add a “When a file is created or modified (properties only)” trigger.
  • Add a Condition, click “Edit in advanced mode”, type the following formula:

@empty(triggerBody()?['Comments'])

  • Within “If/yes” branch of Condition, add a “Start an approval” action, then add a “Apply to each” action. Within “Apply to each” action, add a “Get file properties” action, after that, add “Update file properties” action, specify Site Address, Library Name and Id. Within Comments field, type the formula as below:5.JPG

Note: Within Comments field, type the following text in first line:

The approver Approver name (Approver name dynamic content) ‘s comments: Comments (Comments dynamic content).

In second line, fill dynamic Comments content of “Get file properties” action.

The flow works successfully as below:9.JPG

Thanks a lot! The workaround worked. Not a perfect solution, but it works 🙂

Good evening, I'm a user not a programmer, I've tried createing new flow and use templates and / or start from  scratch.

I see that what I want, can be done, but I have no clue how.

Everytime, O follow a step, somehow the conditions and the dynamic contents are different than what you talk about,

Here is what I want to do:

1. When a file is created at a sharepoint

2. Convert to PDF

3. Start an approval

4. Collect Approver Email, Date of Approval and Comments

5. Update and attach information on item 4 to the file

6. Create a file in another sharepoint with File + Collected information on item 4

7. Send an email with Approval or Rejection.including items collected on item 4

7.

How can this be done?

Thank you in advance.

Ok gents,

I starting building the above flow, the 1st part run fine as follows:part 01part 01

But when the file is created after converting to PDF, I get stuck (part 02)

part 02part 02

Details as follows:Workflow_Page_1.png

I was successful in running the above flow after I split it into 2 flows.

But now when I update the file properties, where do I see them? can I attach to the file? if not, where are they and what can I do with them?

Hello People, I have a Power App form, and on there, i need to have 3 approvals by 3 different people.

Line manager, Approver 1, Approver 2.

how can i create a flow that first sends a mail to Line Manager for approval but does not send to the others.

Only after Line manager approves, then another mail should be sent to  the approver1 and same thing for approver2.

please i need a step by step approach
