Avoid concurrency between different flows

I have one sharepoint list fed by multiple flows triggered by different events. This list works like an index for multiple tasks in my area. When a SP list item is created, it generate a key (index) used by the flows to refer that demand. When the flows are triggered simultaneously, the same key is provided for both flows.

 

Is there a way to set multiple independent flows in a same schedule avoiding concurrency between them?

@MatheusSiqueira Because you are running the Get Items action in both flows—maybe simultaneously at times you might need to consider a different syntax. Possibly adding a prefix or suffix based on the form being filed. Or you might need to consider a different way to generate your key all together. 

 

Alternatively you can toggle your custom column to enforce unique values.

This would cause the Create Item action to fail if the ID you want to use has already been used. Though you'd need to run the Get Items action again which I don't believe is very efficient. It really depends on how often these forms are being filled out.

@MatheusSiqueira Are both flows being triggered when a new SP Item is created (from the same list)? If so, you might consider using Trigger Conditions.

If you are using an Automated Cloud flow trigger in your flow—you need to consider adding trigger conditions.

 

Do YOU 🫵 know what a trigger condition is? Trigger conditions can be set in most flow triggers. These conditions you set must be true for the trigger to fire. If your plan has flow run limits—you can avoid triggering your flows unnecessarily by using trigger conditions.

Actually, I have two flows triggered by different Forms. They are focused on different matters, but the project basic properties are prospected in both forms. The idea is to create a single list that provide individual entry numbers to both forms entries.

@MatheusSiqueira How are you generating the unique key?

The trigger of each flow is the submission of a response. After retrieve the response details, I perform a "Get Items" action on my list looking for the last entrance. Than, with a compose action, I increment the index value by 1 and use this incremented index on the "Create Items" with the responses of the form that triggered the flow.

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!    This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can.
