I have a requirement where I need to calculate the date 90 days from the created date and set the Expire Date to that date.

I can't seem to find anything that fits that can anyone help me understand how I am suppose to implement that.

I also need to delete that item once it hits that date from the list.

Thank you in advance.

Hi @Dorinda ,

You only need to change "is equal to" in Condition to "is less than or equal to".

The method I provided is correct, the calculated column is created based on Created.

Flow runs once a day, so it needs to be compared with the current date.

Calculated column date is less than today's date, then the corresponding items need to be deleted.

Please take a try again.

you should user ticks function to achieve that.

div(sub(ticks(formatDateTime(utcNow(),'yyyy-MM-dd')),ticks(item()?['YourDate'])),864000000000)

ticks(formatDateTime(utcNow(),'yyyy-MM-dd') - Number of Ticks since 1 Jan 1601 and Today's Date
ticks(item()?['YourDate']) - Number of Ticks since 1 Jan 1601 and YourDate
sub - subtracting the number of ticks
div - divide the result from 864000000000 (conversion from nanoseconds to days)

Hi @Dorinda ,

I suggest you create a calculation column directly in the List to record the Expire Date.

If you want to delete that item once it hits expire date from the list, you could refer to the following flow.

Hope this helps.

@v-bacao-msft  I tried this approach and while it says it ran successfully none of the items are deleted.  I have expire dates set 1/30/2020 that is way more than 90 days, I ran this on the calculated column and on the date column no items deleted.

Hi @Dorinda

Could you please post a screenshot of your flow and the expressions you are using?

Thanks

Hi @Dorinda ,

I hope I didn't misunderstand your needs. Do you want to delete items whose expire date is equal to today?

If it is, the method I provided is suitable for your needs. This Flow will determine whether the expire date is equal to today's date.

If they are equal, delete the corresponding items. You can check if the output of Compose is equal to utcNow().

The value of Calculated column does not need to be set manually, its value will be automatically obtained based on the value of another field, here I use Created.

If you want to delete all items whose expire date is less than today, you can change "is equal to" in Condition to "is less than or equal to".

Hope that makes sense.

@v-bacao-msft Yes I think you misunderstood.  I have items in a list that will be created at different times and when the created date calculation field show that that date has past or is current then I want the item removed.  It is not based on todays date but the created date.

That may be why your suggestion is not working.  I have done the calculation in the list but I need it to check and see once a week or once a day that that date has not passed but if it has then I need to have it delete that item.  So all items from lets say Jan-Mar should be removed from this since the create date plus 90 days have past.

Hope that clarifies and helps you help me get this to working.

Thank you again !!

Hi @Dorinda

In order to debug this check the Get List Items run history. See any records are returned or not. If nothing is found that means it could be the filter expression you using wrong or not dates are falling into the category.

Thanks
