Compare columns

Hello,

I am trying compare two columns in Sharepoint list. Its column A and B. What will be in A and wont be somewhere in B, I want to save to column C.

Can I ask you for help please?

@Anonymous  so you are looking to compare if Column B value does not contain value of Column A, then update value of Column C?

Also can you provide the data type of Column A and Column B in SharePoint?

Almost you have right. I dont need update value in column C - this column is empty and I need insert only non exist values in B.

Data type will be string.

okay, i didnt get this "insert only non exist values in B", can you provide sample values which can be in Column A and column B, for me to understand how to provide best suggestion on doing the comparison?

Yea, no problem.

This attachment will show you, what I need. I have columns Test1 and Test2. I need take value from Test1 and check if exist in Test2. If not, insert it to column No exist in Test2.

okay, so looks like you are using number values in the Test1 and Test2 columns, would that be the case in actual values? If yes then the comparison should be equals not contains and if the columns are to store text values then comparison can be contains, let me know.

I tried you recommendation and it doesnt work. It gave me error that first argument must be object, array or string.

I tried inicialization to array but it still doesnt work. 😕 Have you some tips please?

@Anonymous  the data type of Test1 and Test 2 does not look same. Can you add two compose actions before the condition, and then assign Test 1 value to 1st Compose action and Test 2 value to 2nd Compose action and share the screenshot of both compose action from the flow run, for me to see what value is stored in Test1 and Test2?

@Anonymous  so it looks like the Test1 and Test2 are multi valued columns, can you go to your SharePoint List Settings, and share a screenshot of columns from List Settings page, as i would like know the data type of these columns in SharePoint List.

It works but only for row. It takes one value Test1 and compare Test2. I need take Test1 and compare it with all values from Test2.

@Anonymous , in that case please do as following screenshot

Expressions on left side of condition 

string(items('Apply_to_each')?['test1'])

Expression on right side of condition

string(items('Apply_to_each_2')?['test2'])

This approach will be slow as we are looping through times twice, you can also try below approach which uses filter array

Expression of left side of filter array

string(items('Apply_to_each_3')?['test1'])

Expression of right side of filter array

string(item()?['test2'])

You may want use Does not Contain comparisons in both approach as you had mentioned "I need take value from Test1 and check if exist in Test2. If not, insert it to column No exist in Test2."

Sure, for that i will need to know which items you want to update:

1. Do you want to update those items which contain the Test1 value in Test2 value?

2. Or do you want to update those items which do not contain the Test1 value in Test2 value?

3. Or do you want to update those items which have blank value in Test2 column?

@Anonymous Then i think first change the comparison in Filter Array from Contains to Does not contains and then add Apply to each action to loop through items of Filter Array, and add Update Item action in the Apply to each, as shown in below screenshot:
