Determining the value of a choice field

Hi,

I'm using Power Automate to monitor a Dataverse table - specifically when a record is created. In my example this means that a new client has been created.

The above snip captures the name of the new client and this works ok. So far so good.

I also want to pick out of the new record the service category that the client is in. In the Dataverse table, this column is a global choice.

When I use the above step, what it actually fetches is the numeric value of the choice (e.g. 907910000) rather than it's actual textual value. I've tried to get the value using GetRowByID but I can't seem to get that either.

I'm already using GetRowByID to get the name of the person that created the record using this:

This seems to do a LookUp in the Users table to get the actual name of the person that created the record. That part works too.

I'm just stuck on how to get the category now? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi @Martin_W ,

From here, I think you can add a quick compose and convert your numericID to a label using an if expression:

if(equals(triggerBody()?['ChoiceFieldName'], 990120001), 'new', if(equals(triggerBody()?['ChoiceFieldName'], 990120002), 'open', if(equals(triggerBody()?['ChoiceFieldName'], 990120003), 'closed', 'unknown')))

You would change the triggerBody{}?['ChoiceFieldName'] to match your flow dynamic content.

There has to be a way of pulling it from the actual trigger?

Is the GUID of the new row created "ItemInternalID"?

OK, I think I have this fixed now.

After I did a Test run, and looked at the actual outputs from the trigger, I could see that there was a value in the body called "crbbc_servicecategory_label" with the value I wanted.

To pull that out, I used an Initialize Variable step with the Expression

triggerBody()?['_crbbc_servicecategory_label']

Note that I needed to change the double quotes in the body output to single quotes for the Expression. Anyway, that seems to be working.
