Flexible number of links in an e-mail

It's me again 😏

I was afraid that with my knowledge of flows I would not be able to make any progress here.

What I want to do, I have already described here:

https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Flows/Approval-Flow-and-individual-Settlement-items/m-p...

But this approach is too inflexible for my case.

What exactly I want to do, I can explain better with this picture:

Approval Mail.gif

An employee uses PowerApps to send their travel expense report to the approver. The approver can now view all items to be approved using the approval e-mail.

The travel data itself comes from the SharePoint list "Expenses", the corresponding items come from the SharePoint list "LineItems". This list can contain one or more items. For each item I would like to have the links to the items listed in the e-mail to the approver.

Is my idea with Flow at all feasible? What is the best way to proceed?

Glad about every tip that helps me get ahead here.

Thanks in advance.

Herb

Hi @Anonymous ,

It seems that we could insert multiple links in Details. We could only insert a single link in the Item link field.

Please try to refer to the following method to insert multiple links to Details.

  • Initialize string variables to store links to item.
  • Use markdown to format links and append to string variables.

The variable only contains the links of the filtered items. You can configure Filter Query to filter the items or use Condition to filter the items directly in Apply to each.

Hope this helps.

Hi @v-bacao-msft,

you made my day 👍

I didn't expect it to be that easy. I guess I thought it was a little too complicated. I meant that I first had to create a two-dimensional array and then read it out in the approval e-mail with ForEach. 🤔

Thanks again !

Unfortunately, there is still a small beauty problem. MarkDown is probably not accepted in the e-mail. Now I have no link to click on.

Do you have an idea for this ?

Then I also noticed that these links are also structured differently, like the original link to the Expenses. It appears a different structure of the website, like Expenses.

Is it the same with you?

Hi @Anonymous ,

It seems that you are missing a ")" in the Value.links

Besides, please add a new line in the Value of Append to string variable action.

Please try again.

Hi @v-bacao-msft,

Little thing, big effect. Now it works. Thanks for your advice. 👍

And now, hopefully, my last question on the subject.

At the end of the flow I would like to send an e-mail to our accounting department with the same information as in the approval e-mail.

All links to the individual positions should also be sent here.

I don't think I can use Markdown on this. That's why I only get a similar display as in the approval e-mail without the last bracket.

Do you have any ideas about this?

Thanks for your patience with me.

Best Regards

Herb
