Flow failing intermittently

Hi all

I have a flow that copies a newly created SharePoint file to 2 file locations one after the other and then deletes the original file. The first file copy works fine and the second one works about 90% of the time however when a lot of files are uploaded at once I always see a few errors like below:

"status": 400,

  "message": "The requested action could not be completed. Check your request parameters to make sure the path '\\\\***\\wwwroot$\\***\\Help\\pdf/00161301_M03.pdf' exists on your file system.\r\nclientRequestId: 7cd6d528-fd47-4244-a1b9-2e6d40d4dcfb",

  "error": {

    "message": "The requested action could not be completed. Check your request parameters to make sure the path '\\\\***\\wwwroot$\\**\\Help\\pdf/00161301_M03.pdf' exists on your file system."

  },

  "source": "filesystem-cus.azconn-cus-001.p.azurewebsites.net"

Does anyone know why this would only happen sometimes and what is going on with the path?

Thanks

@mt79 You are missing an action as stated in my response on Thursday. You need a Get file content action to get the file content.

Place this action AVOVE the Create file action.

@mt79 Can you upload a screenshot of what your flow currently looks like. You need to build in error handling for your flow. You will most likely need to add a Do Until and Scope action to your flow. Seeing what it currently looks like would be helpful.

Sure. This is what it currently looks like and it is 'Create File 3' that is occasionally fails.

@mt79 Can you expand both Create File actions and screenshot those (blur any sensitive info). It would help to see the full action to better understand why you are getting the error you are getting.

Of course. Both files are using the same gateway, they are just going to different servers.

@mt79 Based on how your flow is laid out. I would imagine that delete file action on the left branch may be running before the file is created on the right.

Could you try to move your Delete File action, and the rest of the action to the main branch?

Hope this helps!

I've amended my flow now so I will update next week after testing. Thanks

Unfortunately, we are still getting the error when the flow runs. Please see below:

The requested action could not be completed. Check your request parameters to make sure the path '\\***\wwwroot$\***\Help\pdf/00141902_M01.pdf' exists on your file system.
clientRequestId: ec81f95f-cb2d-4742-ae49-f09c480cbe41

Could it be something to do with the forward slash at the end instead of backwards?

@mt79 Possibly..where is the forward slash being added? Can you upload that portion of your flow?

That's the strange part. I can't figure out why it is attempting to add a forward slash!

mt79_0-1695132389285.png

@mt79 Do you have a trailing space in the folder path? Or a space before the filename?

Can you add a Compose action after the When a file is created and store the File name dynamic content in it and check the outputs?

@creativeopinion  I've confirmed that there are no spaces anywhere and the flow works 90% of the time!

I've added the compose action now so I'll provide an update once the users have tested.

@mt79 Are you using a depreciated trigger? If so .. could you try the When a file is created (properties only) trigger instead?

creativeopinion_0-1695261388261.png

With this particular trigger, there are only two dynamic content items available.

  • Name (file name only)
  • File name with extension

creativeopinion_1-1695261490096.png

Neither of these match your screenshots from your flow. Curious to see if changing the trigger may help.

I tried to use the suggested trigger however it didn't give me the File content that I needed for the 'Create File' action

mt79_0-1695330826198.png

@mt79 You need to add a Get file content or Get file content using path action.

creativeopinion_0-1695331927320.png

That didn't work either I'm afraid. It can only use 'Content approval status'

mt79_0-1695392346646.png

@mt79 Just noticed the Apply to Each actions in your flow. Where did that come from? Can you upload a full screenshot of your flow?

This is the flow after modifying the SharePoint item.

mt79_0-1695408584681.png

Once I attempt to update the 'Compose or Create File' actions, the apply to each is added automatically

mt79_1-1695408669497.png

@mt79 Can you please expand the Compose action (what dynamic content do you have placed in the Compose action)?

Whatever dynamic content you have selected is an array which is why it's being nested inside an Apply to Each action.

The compose action is just attempting to pull the file name. It adds an 'Apply to each' action on the create file elements as well if I delete the compose
