Flow that counts how many times a number in a row is found within the same coulmn and updates with a count within another coulmn.

Hi.

If anyone can support, I have been working on this for days.

My Sharepoint list is Auto updated with the person's Name and Payroll number, I need the Occurance Column to check all the Payroll numbers within 'Payroll Number' and update Occurrence with a count of how many times it is there.

MySch_0-1712516223809.png

For Example, 777444 is there twice so will say 2 within the Occurrence property, 111222 and 454545 would both say 1

I've started with the Automation, but not close yet.

The end goal is to create triggers when a Payroll number is there at certain benchmarks (3,4,5,6) and will do things depending on how many times its there. This is for a pool of 4k people.

Thank you.

You haven't done your filter query correctly. The syntax is like ColumnName eq Value where ColumnName is the internal column name and Value is the value you're filtering for.

OK, did you try to find any examples that show  proper syntax  of the "Filer Query" field?

Have a look at this doc: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/dynamicsnav-2016/hh169248(v=nav.90)?redirectedfr...

Do a Get items action. In teh advanced settings, Filter condition PayrollNumber (or Payroll_x0020_Number - whatever the internal column name is) eq triggerBody()?['PayrollNumber'] where the italics part is an expression. If it's a text column then also put it inside single quotes.

This action will return any rows with a matching Payroll Number to that of the trigger item. Next in a compose ou can add the expression length(body('Get_items')?['value']) to measure the length of the array. The output of that is what you need to put in the Update item action

Hi,

Thank you for the quick reply.

I have followed your instructions however the list is just counting each new Item created rather than checking how many payroll numbers are there that match. Have I followed everything correctly?

Also when I come out and back in the Triggerbody Expression changes back to Payroll number Dynamic Content.

Thank you, I appreciate your support in this.

HI,

Okay, I haven't got my Filter Query correct,

I have -  triggerBody()?['Payroll_Number']

Your saying,

ColumnName (Internal Column name)= Value (What I'm Filtering for)

I think the internal Column must be the name on the Sharepoint list that I want to search so is 'Payroll_Number'

and then the Value I want it to search for is the Payroll Number of the item that was just added so again 'Payroll_Number'

So would I change the expression to,

triggerBody('Payroll_Number')?['Payroll_Number']

I tried it and it didn't work but maybe you can point out where I have done it wrong, I am pretty new to the Expressions.

Why don't you follow the suggestion? Your syntax in the field "Filer Query" is wrong.  Just use correct syntax.

Hi @VictorIvanidze

I really want to follow the suggestion, but I don't think I understand the suggestion. After many tries and trying to read up on the expression.  This might be because I am a visual learner and the fact I have not done this type before.

Thank you @VictorIvanidze that did help and I understand better about the filter now, also watched some videos on it and turned on a function which helped. I just used the Payroll number Dynamic Value and its configured it and now works.

Also thank you @WillPage
