Flow troubleshoot - sending an email based off a calculated date field in a document library

Hi everyone - I created a flow awhile ago but it seems to not be working anymore and i'm not sure why. I created a calculated field titled "Next Review Date" that uses two other fields "Last Review Date" and "Lifespan" (in months) to calculate when each document is scheduled for review. I'm not getting any error messages and it just says that each condition was false (even though i know at least one condition is true) so it seems it might be an issue with my condition but I really have no idea. The email is meant to be sent to the "Owner" (People column). Here is the column configuration and the flow any help would be greatly appreciated.

@Undefined The Send an Email action shouldn't be nested inside an Apply to Each action. It's redundant as the Condition action is already inside an Apply to Each action.

I would recommend adding a Compose action above the Condition action to verify the output of your expression. The Condition action isn't helpful when you review the outputs as it only returns a true or false.

If you put this expression into a Compose action before the Condition action you can compare the output of this expression with the output of your first Compose action. Remember to rename your actions to keep things organized!

Thanks for your response @creativeopinion - the nested apply to each gets automatically created as a result of me using pretty much any dynamic content in the email - any time i remove it, it deletes the email as well.

adding a compose as you suggested reveals that the intended true test is returning 2024-01-10T13:00:00Z whereas my converted time zone output is returning 2024-01-11 (i changed the date format to do a like for like). My assumption is the 13:00:00Z is the issue.

Not sure how to remove that as my locale on the site settings is already English (Australia) and in my column settings it says that it is Date only

@Undefined If you are using any content in your email that contains an array (such as a multi-choice column) you need to prep that content before you use it in the Email otherwise it will automatically nest it inside an apply to Each action.

The reason your condition is returning false is cause there isn't a match. You need to wrap your first expression in a formatDateTime() function to output the proper date. However it still wont' be a match... as the date in your first Compose action is returning the 10th.

Take a look a this YT Tutorial I recently uploaded: 3 Mistakes YOU 🫵 are Making with the Apply to Each Action in your Microsoft Power Automate Flow

In this video tutorial I’ll go over how to avoid these common mistakes when using the Apply to Each action in a Power Automate flow:

1️⃣Looping through a Single Item

2️⃣ Creating Unnecessary Nested Loops

3️⃣ Looping through an Unfiltered Array

At the end of the video I share a few helpful insights when it comes to using the Apply to Each action in your flow.

I'll also cover:

How to avoid the Apply to Each action with a single item array

How to use the item() function to access dynamic content in an array

How to prevent unnecessary nested Apply to Each action loops

How to use the Select action

How to convert an array to a string with the Select action

How to use the Filter Query field

How to count the number of items in an array

How to use a condition control

How to use the concurrency control

How to set a top count

How to use Compose actions for troubleshooting

update: instead of the former condition of formatDatetime - i used convert time zone before the condition and used that instead. Which is finally returning a true value

Now just having an issue with the email - which i suspect is a result of your first suggestion @creativeopinion
