Generate and fill tables in excel from .csv

For a project in my college's IT department, we are using Flow to read data concerning who is in a classroom when off of a spreadsheet. As such, to keep the Flow running quickly, we need each clasroom's data to be in seperate tables. Right now we are testing with two tables, but eventually we will need to convert the data from all the classrooms, which we can easily compile into a .csv file, into an excel spreadsheet with tables for each classroom. I could do this manually, but it would take quite a while, would be prone to errors, and would need to be repeated every semester. I have been able to generate tables easily, but have noted the impossibilty of dynamically filling these tables. Is there a way I might be able to do this if I have the data sorted well in a .csv file, or is it still impossible?

Hi @V3lardy 

I was going through the scenario and it was all possible until you mentioned that the tables are being generated and you want to fill these. Please note that, currently the EXCEL connector in flow does not support passing the File Name of the Excel sheet, the table as dynamic values or referenced from variables which means that you have to manually select the file by clicking the folder icon on the action and then select the table from a list of tables that comes in the drop down. A solution to this limitation should be released by Flow soon but until then, if you have the tables and excel sheets already on the source library (SharePoint, OneDrive), then you can perform the actions to load this file with the CSV data. Makes Sense?

Can you share more of your thoughts around moving the CSV details into an excel file with a table already in it. I have a case that I'm working on that this could be the solution, but I haven't found out how to do it with Flow.

You can now try automatically converting most CSVs to a new Excel table with the same column names as the CSV headers with this template:
