Getting Planner Plan Title from List My Tasks

I have a flow to send me an email for each uncompleted task I have due within the next 5 days. It does the trick but I did hit a snag. The List my Tasks action doesn't give you the Plan Name only the Plan Id it is associated with (and you have to click Show More to get that).  I have repeat tasks that have the same name but associated with different projects so the reminder isn't near as helpful without knowing the plan associated with it.  There has to be a way to get the Plan Title but I keep getting hit with errors...

I set up another manual flow to List my Tasks and then Update Task Detail so that I could get the Plan Title added to the description so when I include the description in the email I can tell which Plan the Task is associated with but I can't figure the logic to get that.  So far I can only get the Plan Id in the description which isn't very helpful at a glance.

Moving forward I can simply add the Plan Title to the description using Update Task Detail right after the Create Task action, but for right now, I need to figure out how to Update the Task Details for all the tasks I've already created OR a way to get the Plan Title into the reminder message.

Anyone have an idea?

Hi @Anonymous,

I just tested a little bit. It seems that it's true you couldn't get the Planner Title the tasks are associated to with the "List My Tasks" action.

You could post this idea in the Flow Ideas forum, so it might be considered for future releases.

I would like this feature as well. Why is the plan and bucket name for a task not available under task details.

I'm looking on this as well since I'm creating a flow to send message to the channel when a new task was added. I need to specify the Planner Name/title to the message.

I just tried to create a flow to automate some tasks every time a new plan is created, there are no option to this as well there are no way to get plan name from a task inside it.

I try to post in flowideas using the link above from @v-monli-msft but the link return a warning to me.

As this original post is from 2017 I am very disapointed microsoft has not included it yet, its clearly a miss.

I agree this is annoying but like a lot of times, Flow here is just a simplified wrapper for the Graph API. If you have access to Graph I recommend learning it because it gives you more detail and can do things faster than flow actions.

So here, the Flow would be:

Get my tasks

Loop through tasks

Send HTTP request (office 365 groups)

URI would be https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/planner/plans/{plan-id} with your plan id at the end

Parse JSON result. You can get the schema from the result in the Graph explorer

Plan title will appear in the dynamic content of the Parse JSON output

If you have a lot of tasks or plans you would probably want to build up a lookup object to store the values so you don't have to send off requests for plans whose names you have been sent already
