Has Attachment condition always falls to False

Hi Team, I'm building a flow with condition part to estimate if the item include attachments or not.

All conditions I have tried, no attachment , one attachment , multiple attachments, all conditions fall to false.

Hi @Brad_Groux,

I think something wrong with the has attachments value.

I tried to set the value as true , True , fx(true), no one works.

So I have to try to add a 'Yes/No' box in the list item and ask user to select if he wants to include the attachments, and then need to initial the variables into boolean (if not initial , just using the 'Yes/No' box value , true and false will also not be able to judge the condition -- always return false. ) , and after that I set the variables is equal to fx(true), then it works.

I hope to understand why the 'has attachments' always falls to false even I have added the attachments. it's really confused to me.

Thanks!

Jack

I have also tried put 'true' value in the condition value field, but still not work.

I'm really confused what the output for 'has attachments' dynamic content.

Hope to obtain your support.

Thanks!

Jack

You have a few options, you can set the expression to (enter it exactly like this):

'True'

I believe your lowercase true is the issue:EqualToTrueCondition.PNG

Or, what I prefer to do is to utilize is not equal to with a null expression:NotEqualToNullCondition.PNG

Is not equal to null is my go-to for the vast a majority of my boolean expressions, as it makes it super-simple to troubleshoot.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Please don't forget to add attachments when creating items:

Please take a try again.

Did you try the is not equal to with a null expression I mentioned in my previous response?NotEqualToNullCondition.PNG

This should pass if there is literally anything in the Has attachment condition.

Hi @Brad_Groux

I have used my way to achieve the condition like I mentioned in the reply.

Thanks anyway for your help.

Jack

This solution (i.e., using "is not equal to " "null") worked for me!

Now, when I create a new SharePoint list item with an attachment in List A, my Flow creates a duplicate item in List B AND adds the attachment if present.

When I try opening the attachment from the original item (in List A), it opens fine.

But when I try opening the attachment from the duplicate item (in List B), I receive an error message, stating that the file is corrupt:

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

There is DEFINITELY and issue with this Condition. I have tried it every way shown in this thread and it always tests the same way.  I swear I used this condition in another version of the same flow (which I deleted) and it appeared to be working but now it does not no matter what I try.  It is super frustrating to spend so much time on a function that should just work.  Are there or aren't there attachments.  Seems pretty straight forward to me.

In my flow I am expecting someone to upload attachments to their item within a certain time period.  I have a "when item is created" flow run and pause for a number of days and then check for attachments.  It fails every time.

Does anyone have a solution that really works???

Thanks,
Nelson

I was able to get this to work.  Hope it helps others.
