Help needed in building a flow

I want to build a flow that sends a mail when current date reach the date in an excel sheet

 Schermafbeelding 2024-01-27 014806.png

So the last row equals my condition and I want to send an email with this row to an emailaddress.

I made this flow:

Under Recurrence I choose the correct excel

And under Foreach:

eing_1-1706317125720.png

Do I need to put a parameter here?
Then the condition:

eing_2-1706317285187.png

Here I want the flow to search the date of today and if he finds the same date I would like the flow to make an email:

eing_3-1706317434269.png

If I read it wright it says that the to email is coming from the column "correspondentie email"

and in the body I want the fields that are in the row of the correct date but I think I am missing something here.

When I test the flow I am getting an error

Please help me!

@eing The format of your dates in your Condition action do not match.

In your expression, you have formatted the date so the output is 'yyyy-MM-dd'.

creativeopinion_0-1706318417560.png

In your Excel table, the date in the datestamp column is formatted as 'dd-MM-yyyy'.

For this reason, your condition will always return false. Also, depending on when you are running this flow it might be best to add a Convert Time Zone action to your flow. Refer to this section of one of my YT Tutorials to see how to do use this action.

Thanks for your answer. I changed he date and the problem is now:

eing_0-1706319758754.png

So the send email has now the error : not specified.

Error: The email is not sent because the condition in the "if" statement is not met. The condition checks if the current date (formatted as 'dd-MM-yyyy') is equal to the value of the "datestamp" property in the table. If the condition is not true, the email will not be sent. I believe there is one row that equals the date of today so therefore I think the mail must send.

Do I need to put in other conditions? There are other datecolumns in this table. Can I select the correct column?

@eing

Please note: I'm using the Classic Designer. The new designer still has a few bugs.

To properly troubleshoot your issue you should place your expression into a Compose action (before your condition) and review the output of the compose action.

Run a test. As mentioned in my previous response, whenever using dates and times in your flow it's always best to use a Convert Time Zone action. Depending on your local timezone and when you are running your flow—the output may not be what you expect.

creativeopinion_3-1706322877213.png

Also, instead of using an Apply to Each action to loop through each of your Excel rows — then running a Condition action to check to see which of your rows has a matching date. It's much more efficient to use a Filter Array action. The Filter Array action will filter out those rows that meet your condition. After you've done that—you can use a Filter Array action to loop through only the rows that meet your condition. It's a lot more efficient this way.

To learn more about how to use the Filter Array action, please refer to this YT Tutorial: Are you using the Microsoft Power Automate Filter Action wrong?

In this video tutorial I’ll show you 3 practical ways to use the Filter Array action and how to use it properly.

1️⃣ Cross-Referencing Data

2️⃣ Filtering by Key

3️⃣ Substring Matching

Did you know that the Condition action has a limit of 10 conditions? Although it might look like the Filter Array action can only accept one condition—this is not true. By using the advanced mode you can enter multiple conditions into a Filter Array action with an expression.

IN THIS VIDEO:

3 Ways to Use the Filter Array Action

How to use the Scope Action to Group Actions

How to Check the Number of Items returned from a Filter Array Action

How to Cross-Reference Data in Excel with a SharePoint List

How the Filter Array Action Works

How to Access the Dynamic Content from a Filter Array Action

How to Filter Items by a Key

How to Filter Items by Matching a Substring

How to Use Multiple Conditions in a Filter Array Action

Hope this helps!

One step closer. Power Automate does not recognize the date field in the Excel, So I had to put in a step which makes the tekst into a date again. Now only a solution for the condition. Te new designer placed my condition automatically in a apply to each so I have to look how to set this in a filter array.

@eing Dates from excel will return in numerical format if you do not set the DateTime Format in the List Rows Present in a table action to ISO 8601.
