How to get users' presence using Graph Api?

Hi,

I'm making flow to get data of users' presence. But still can't get response. I don't know if problem is in access token or HTTP request for presence.

My flow:

  1. I registered my app in Azure.
  2. In "registered app" - certificates & secrets - make new client secrets
    1. TomasG_1-1707228447817.png
  3. Then I set permissions - Presence.Read.All is important.
    1. TomasG_2-1707228569121.png
  4. After I make PowerAutomate flow
    1. First I need access token.
    2. TomasG_0-1707228416697.png
    3. I've got access token which i set into jwt.ms: Welcome! looks:
      1. TomasG_4-1707229100026.png
      2. Then I add "Bearer" string before token
    4. And my HTTP (Post) request:
    5. TomasG_0-1707230573081.png

    6. Gives mne result:
      1. "code": "BadRequest",

            "message": "Write requests (excluding DELETE) must contain the Content-Type header declaration.",

    7. When I use (GET) insted of (Post):
      1. TomasG_6-1707229761262.png
      2. I got response:
        1. "error": {

              "code": "Forbidden",

              "message": "",

Can anybody advice me how to solve this problem? Or how to make Power Automate low, which can retrieve users' presence information.

Thanks a lot.

@TomasG ,

Just wonder why are you trying to reproduce the authorization process with Entra AD, when you have a connector for it.  Set the connector HTTP with Microsoft Entra ID (preauthorized) using the graph URL:

https://graph.microsoft.com

gabibalaban_0-1707231760569.png

Hi @gabibalaban

thanks for replay. Ok, If you using  https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/me its work fine.

But try with this connector https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/users/{user-id}/presence OR https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/me/presence.

I've got error message:

{"error":{"code":"Unauthorized","message":"","innerError":{"request-id":"26ffb1b7-48c8-47cd-a77d-cf7a8af21cb9","date":"2024-02-07T08:38:37","client-request-id":"26ffb1b7-48c8-47cd-a77d-cf7a8af21cb9"}}}

Maybe it's about sign in to connector. I used, but don't know if it's correct. But with this, i can sign in into connector.

When I try information from my registered app (placehold in connector hint).

It's look like:

TomasG_0-1707296538848.png

and I got error message:

Failed with error: 'AADSTS650057: Invalid resource. The client has requested access to a resource which is not listed in the requested permissions in the client's application registration. Please sign in again or choose another connection.

Have anybody some advice, where could be problem? Or have some solution in Power Automte, how to retrieve presence of users in tenant.

Thanks a lot.

@TomasG ,

This is the correct form for connection:

gabibalaban_0-1707332214454.png

What you are missing is the permissions to call

 https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/users/{user-id}/presence OR https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/me/presence.

gabibalaban_1-1707332327564.png

You can give permissions using/ testing the API call from:

Graph Explorer | Try Microsoft Graph APIs - Microsoft Graph

Hope it helps !

@gabibalaban

permissions which is needed, we've had. You can see it in original post. it's permissions of registered app.
I add also Presence.Read. So now it's look:

TomasG_1-1707382638910.png

Run flow and still I got error message.

I think there should be used access token. I'm out of ideas how to solved it.

please @gabibalaban, have you any functional solution? Can you share some sections of your flow (successfully executed flow).
Yes I use Graph Explorer | Try Microsoft Graph APIs - Microsoft Graph but it's not the same as with a power automate. I think mainly in terms of authorization.

I didn't say a thing about using registered app ... The permission must be consent for the user who build the flow and create that connection.

The simplest way to rights consent is to log in graph explorer with that user and try the same API call, access the permission tab and give it all necessary from there. The permission will be kept in Entra AD.

I have the same problem, I can query https://graph.microsoft.com/beta/users/{user-id}/presence in Graph Explorer...  but cannot get it to work in power automate.

Hi @TomasG,

did you try this: https://mattipaukkonen.com/2020/01/10/using-microsoft-graph-presence-api-on-sharepoint-framework/

Welcome to my web site.

@TomasG , @MrNilsson2021 ,

All my apologies, I did try the route using authorization via Azure App (as you tried and explained in topic) and user credentials with no success.

There is quite strange as the route is working fine via Graph Explorer, but with no luck when it is called from Power Automate. I also tried @VictorIvanidze proposal, again with no luck from PowerAutomate and succes from Graph API Explorer.

I could bet it will be working fine using HTTP request with preauthorized action.

Once again, please accept my apologies !

Is there anyone who have a proven working solution for this ?

Unfortunately, not at the moment 😕

I want to create a "presenceboard" with a SharePoint list and read/update the current Teams status and workplace of other coworkers... Plus out of office status , the last part is working though, but can only get my own teams status "me" with that solution ...

Try to use Kevin's solution:
