How to parse E-Mail Data for several variables

Hi there,

I need to set up a flow for parsing information from the SAP Fiori e-mail notification for further workflow operations.

The Ui5 is sending an e-mail to me of which contains every-time the same Item groups but with different languages (German/english).

Looks like:

subject mail: version 1: Neue Meldung 2: New Notification

body mail: version 1: Meldender version 2: Reported by, etc…

First I set up the „when a new mail arrives (v3)“ with send by“ (e-mail of notifier) which then goes to a apply to each on subject and another for the body.

I thought to do a content conversion and then use the item function in compose action to the get variables for each German/English Mailform informations - but I can‘t get any information with that - it still crashes.

So could anybody give me a hint or how to to get this Information parsing me the data?

Most times notifier is sending me German information for which I have a working flow - but things getting more different with additional notifications in English and I just get stucked.

Thanks in advance

Then in the conditions the parse of the subject:

08428423-7D9C-428D-85BA-33333AAE289F.jpeg

 The condition met the "Neue Meldung" so the yes path is choosen and the parse of the subject marks the begin of the german notification path. Also the same subject compose is the first step in the english path and for that the condition is not met, the false is correctly noticied and so the compose of the english "subject" is not written. It should work vice versa for english version for which the condition is "New Notification".

You don't need the second condition if you only have the two languages.

It'll be German or "not German" (i.e. English). So you can have all the actions that should happen in case of the email being in English in the "not German" path.

So, now it's time to learn the expressions:

  • split
  • first
  • last

This:
last(split(outputs('DE-Meldung'),'Neue Meldung: '))
will give you the string after "Neue Meldung; "
Put that in a Compose action and call it "DE-Meldung geteilt"

Then you can add another compose action with this code:
first(split(outputs('DE-Meldung_geteilt'),','))

That will give you your notification number.

You can do the same with the other "fields" in the message and parse your data.
Once you have it all in compose actions, you can take the next step and basically do everything you like with the data.

so the peek codes of the parsing is:

97268C92-3333-4C8B-9773-3C9AD3E133E1.jpeg

 then I need to pick up the subsequent entitities of the notification in the e-mail body and have to replace the placeholders but for that no compose would fit and I get stucked in pull the additional Informations.

Where I am wrong?

I have done the compose actions for the subject so far:

7A24CA51-E7E7-49DA-A903-BE33F6B3A519.jpeg

And so the patterns I did for every item of the body a condition. If condition met, parsed word should be initialized:

But if I do a compose in the yes condition, (but also before) it crashes and won´t take the body of german notification, nor it works with meldetext in the root path - but why?

Is it possible that the trigger might just not be set rightly for this?

@schwibach wrote:

OK, so it seems to give you an array in your trigger.

This is what you should use to extract the subject:

triggerBody()['value'][0]['subject']

This for the email body:
triggerBody()['value'][0]['body']

Because if it is returning Arrays, then there's a chance you could lose items, no?

Might be an idea to check the Split on setting in the trigger, here. 👍

I get the subject from the mail in a compose, but the on the way to the body item on first compose it gives me this error:

InvalidTemplate

Unable to process template language expressions in action 'Verfassen' inputs at line '0' and column '0': 'The template language function 'split' expects its first parameter to be of type string. The provided value is of type 'Array'. Please see https://aka.ms/logicexpressions#split for usage details.'.

But I don´t see the point why 😞

I do get my Ticket Number and stuff, but I don´t get the single words extracted without error, at this step:

The Body of Mail starts with "Meldender" but no split worked I tried...

How would this best extracted?
