How to send daily email reminders for approvers that have not replied to Send email with options

Hello All,

I'm trying to figure out the best way to build in a daily reminder email to be sent to approvers that have not completed a Send email with options. I've seen a couple videos that recommend using Start an approval with the approverlist being a string, but I'm not using the Start an approval and am unsure if it could fit into this Flow.

The approval starts by executing a stored proc to return 1 or more emails who are the approvers needed. The results are passed into an Apply to each where it then kicks off a Send email with options. In the Send email with options, it details in an HTML table the request details and the options are Approve or Reject. This can be sent to multiple approvers and all need to approve. I'm trying to add a branch where it will send a reminder email daily to the emails that have NOT submitted their approve/reject option for the email. Here is a screen shot of the area:

It is worth noting the approvers are external emails to my tenant. If there are multiple emails needed, it will start with the first one returned in the stored proc and will not contact the 2nd until the first has approved. If the first rejects it, it will not even contact the 2nd approver and will mark the request as rejected.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi @xellemang

I believe this solution will work for you!

1º Create your trigger

2º Initialize Variable

3º Create the Approval

tdianacarvalho_1-1637320999551.png

4º Create an under this Action-Scope you can name it "Approval Complete in time"

5º Create action "Wait for an approval"

4º Set a Variable in which  with the same name as the one done before, with the value set to "true"

6º After that create an action-condition in which you determine what would happen if the approval was accepted or rejected

You should end up with something like this

tdianacarvalho_2-1637320999552.png

7º After this you should create a "parallel branch"  under "Create an approval"

tdianacarvalho_3-1637320999553.png

8º This new branch should be an action-scope you can call it " Approval Not Complete within 1 Day"

9º Add a action "Do Until" where you will use the variable created before and set the value to "true" in this part you should also set how many times this loop can happen and for how long in this example it can only happen 10 times in a span of 30 days

10º You should add the action "Delay" into the "Do until" control which will determine how long after the reminder should be sent, in this example 1 day.

11º After this you should add the "Condition" under "Delay". Determining what should happen if no action was taken.  Add "Apply to each"

And follow the steps until you end up with a flow as shown below, where approvers will receive an email indicating that the request hasn't been approved.

Hope this helps

Hello @Anonymous ,

Thank you so much for the information. I think this solution will not work because the "approvers" are all external users and will not be able to be added as guests. I am using the Send email with options to allow them to approve/reject the request. Can your logic be used but without using the Approval but instead using the send email with options?
