How to store parsed json in text file

Hi Everyone,

I've created a power app that executes a flow.

In the flow, I need to store a parsed JSON file into a text file without replacing the previous outputs.

When the output of Parse JSON is used in Create File it's only storing the last value in the file, please help me to store all the parsed values in the text file.

Before executing the create file action, you will need to use a "Get File Content" action. To get the contents of the file. Then you can use the concat function to join the existing content, to the new content, and use that new complete content as the basis for your create file action.

My concern is I have multiple values from parse JSON output and wanted to store all the values in the text file, when I tried to add the items to the file it creates a loop where all the values are replaced with current values.

Yes, this is normal. Instead of writing to the file in your loop, you need to join the outputs of your JSON into a single string and write that to the file outside of the loop. Instead of your apply to each action. A select action might work better. Then a compose action to join the output of the select action with a new line. Then you will have a single string, you can use to write to your file just once. 

No need for an apply to each loop.

If you want to stick with the current apply to each approach. Simply create a string variable at the top of the flow. In your loop use the "Append to string variable" action. This variable will then contain everything you want to add to the file. 

When the loop is finished, you will can write the contents of the variable to the file.

Realize this is an old thread, but as a newbie, this flow is very similar to what I am trying to accomplish.

I have created a Parse JSON step, but am struggling what to do with the result.

The last field in this step is the Contents which is a string variable.  This represents an image in Base64 format so is very long (approx. 400,000 characters).  Hence, I think I would like to paste the contents into a .txt file.

This is where I am struggling as this is my first ever flow.

Would appreciate your thoughts / comments or other assistance to help me get over this next hurdle.

How many fields of information do you need from your HTTP call, @rsbin?

If it's only a couple, then you can just reference them directly, using:

body('HTTP')?['properties/Done/WasabiFile/properties/Id']

(this is purely an example, extrapolate what you need)

However if this needs a bit of looking at, you should spin this out into a new thread which refers back to this one. Just be sure to include your whole flow in the question, and some sample data. 👍
