Issue in sending SurveyLink via SMS using Send Survey Action

I wanted to Send Survey (MS Forms Pro) from MS Flow and make the Survey available for 1 week from the date of Survey sent.

I could not send this Survey link through SMS as I am using Send Survey action which doesn't have any link to send through SMS but it works fine through Email.

Because Create Invitation action will have Survey link to send but am not able to capture the response when the response is submitted for the survey.

Please help to fix the same.

HI @Anonymous

Couldn't you concatenate the text of the SMS with the link?

I would recommend shortening the link before, but then the user would receive your text and the link in the end.

Makes sense?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Sorry, I am not getting the Survey Link from Send Survey action in MS flow.

When I use Send Survey action, I am not able to get the Survey Link to append it to SMS. Because Send Survey action always

returns null value as response. (Please find the attached screenshot for reference)

Hi @Anonymous

The screenshot is trimmed. Could you please add a more complete overview, if you can, so that I can try to help you?

Thanks

Hi @Anonymous ,

Unfortunately, there is no output from the Send a survey action, its role is just to send an email containing a survey link.

Just like Send an email action, there is no output available.

In addition to Create Invitation action, the link it generates looks like it can be used to track the response.

I did a test on my side, sending links to other users, and after they submitted, we could see the information they submitted in Responses.

I also used When a new response is submitted as a trigger to create a new Flow to get the response, and it can be triggered normally.

Hi,

Send Survey action automatically attaches the Survey Link with email, hence I could not get a SurveyLink separately  in order to attach it to SMS.

Thank you.

Hi ,

Thanks for your reply.

Is your When new response is submitted action is getting auto triggered when response is submitted from SurveyLink (i.e. survey link that is generated from Create an Invitation action)?

Yes, I could see the response in Forms Pro response screen when the response is submitted from "Create an Invitation" action.

But I have tried with When new response is submitted the response is not getting captured. Please find the attached screenshot from MS Flow.SurveyLink.png

Hi @Anonymous ,

I don't know why many users add another trigger to the same Flow. Is this a new feature?🤔

I created a new Flow and used When a new response is submitted as a trigger to get the response of the specified form.

Hi  ,

No, I have not added both trigger in one flow. But I have tested with two different trigger.

It works for me now ,When a new response submitted action is getting triggered automatically.

Thank you all for the help

Hi  @v-bacao-msft ,

I was doing testing with the MS flow to trigger a survey and get a response. Once I get a response then I update the response to specific request in dynamics 365 application for which the Survey was sent.

But when multiple Surveys send from MS flow and all flows are in running state, if any one survey is responded then all the  'When a new response submitted' action in all flows are getting triggered. Hence the same survey response is updated in all requests in dynamics 365 application. ( it seems like we cannot capture response for specific request for which we sent a survey.) Please help.

Hi @v-bacao-msft ,

Is there any way to capture response for a specific survey invite for which we sent a survey invite?

Hi @Anonymous ,

It is recommended that you create this part in a separate Flow.

178.PNG

Regarding capture response, as long as you specify the Form Id in When a new response is submitted, it will get all the responses, it seems that this is in line with your needs, we do not need to do other configuration.

In addition, it is no longer necessary to configure the Get response details action in Apply to each, you can remove Apply to each.

Hi @v-bacao-msft ,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I am able to capture the response for the Survey Invite.

For example, I want to send a feedback link when I close the case in CRM and I need to capture the response for that survey and update it back to same case for which I send the survey.

In this scenario, I have closed 3 cases and MS flow sent 3 Survey links (3 MS Flow instances were running) to users but when one of the user filled the Survey with his answers hence all 3 MS flow instances are completed and it updated one Survey response in all 3 cases.

But actually one Survey response should update only one case instead all the 3 cases. (When one response is received When new response created action in all the 3 flows are triggered and it updated same values in all the 3 cases)

Please help us with this issue.

@Anonymous - you will need to add in a couple of steps after the trigger to check and make sure it's the survey you want that flow to run on. Otherwise, as you have found, when someone fills out any survey it could trigger any of your flows, so a step like this is required. You can either do it and have your condition check against the name, or check against the GUID of the survey. The screenshot below was taken from this post:
