MS Forms attachments not opening

Hi all

I am very new to this and if I can get this to work it'll save me so much heartache. I have followed instructions online but for some reason I cannot get the files to open which have been included as attachments in MSForms -> saved to OneDrive and then emailed to a bunch of email addresses.

I managed to get everything else working but just not the opening of the attachment - I have set the following up;

Any guidance would be great and remember to take it easy on me I'm very new!

Thanks

Do you mean the attachments are there, but that after you email them you can't open them?  Or are the attachments not showing up at all?  It looks like you are following the walkthrough I posted online. Let me have some more details about what is going wrong and I'll try to help.

Take a look at a recent run and check what is being loaded for file content.  If it doesn't include the content type value then that is the problem.  the other problem I've seen is adding a file without an extension.

The file content looks correct, although I've never done this using a document with OpenXML format.  For the extension just look at the file name in the Compose action that adds the file to the array. You should see the filename you are giving to the attachment.  It must have an extension for the email program to know how to open it.

Hi! Found this string and am having a similar issue -- everything is going smooth with the power automate flow (showing success on all parts); email is sending... but when the file attachment comes through the email, we are getting an error from our default photo viewer that it cannot open the .jpeg file. However, when I trace the pathway back to the Sharepoint site where the file submissions are being stored, they open up just fine.

Any ideas why the email file attachment version cannot be viewed?

I am having the same problem. I cannot open attached files via email. I get an error message that says the file is corrupted/damaged. The flow works fine and all steps are performed without errors.

If you are using the new designer try switching to the legacy designer. There was a bug with adding attachments in the new designer and I'm not sure if its been fixed yet.  If that doesn't help please post this as a new question with screenshots and more information and we'll try to help.

Hello Pstork1,

Sorry for the delay in my response.

I have tried it with both designers. But that does not resolve the issue.

I have the exact same flow you see above. All the steps in the flow are executed successfully.

The email containing the attachment also arrives. Yet it goes wrong when opening the attachment. I get the following error message.

Any ideas?

  1. Are you attaching the file as an individual file content or as an array?
  2. Have you verified the attachment has a .docx extension?
  3. Can you post a screenshot of a recent run with the get file content and email actions?

Hi WesleyvB

I have looked through my flows and it appears I made a little tweak to get this working I added in Get File Metadata. If I recall correct, this sorted out the issue for me (see pic) Thanks

Hi Clarkyb,

Thank you for your response.

In the meantime, I have completely rebuilt my flow.

Now it doesn't really look like the flow you built. But it does work!
