Modifying time

Newbie here.

I'm creating flow where when dates are entered into a SharePoint list, a SharePoint calendar event would be created.

The list contains Start and End fields that correspond to when an event starts and ends. If the Start and End fields are the same, it would be considered an all day event. Since you can't create an all day event for a SharePoint calendar via Power Automate (right?), I thought the next best thing would be to create an event that goes from midnight to 11:59PM.

In Power Automate, I put in a Create Item action to place the event on the SharePoint calendar, and it works only so-so. 

The event itself is created, but end time is off.

I use this expression for the end date:

formatDateTime(outputs('Compose'),'yyyy-MM-ddT23:59:00Z')

The event on the calendar shows that it ends at 4:59PM which makes sense since I live in the Pacific time zone. Anyone have suggestions on how to handle this so that the event ends at 11:59pm instead of 4:59pm?

addHours(startOfDay(triggerBody()?['Start']),24)

I tried your suggestion, but instead of 4:59PM, it put 5PM as the end time of the SharePoint calendar event. Any ideas?

Ah, I see. I tweaked your answer to this:

addHours(startOfDay(triggerBody()?['End']),31)

That made up for the hours. I wonder what will happen when a time change happens. Maybe I should change to 30 instead. Thoughts anyone?

You could try the date-time format:

addHours(startOfDay(triggerBody()?['End']),31,'yyyy-MM-ddThh:59:00Z')

I think 

addHours(startOfDay(triggerBody()?['End']),31,'yyyy-MM-ddThh:59:00Z')

works ok although I changed it to 30 instead of 31. Any idea if that'll still work when the time changes in October?

Hi @ben94607,

After the daylight saving comes in October, you should set it manually. Or, you could create a condition to determine the current month whether greater 10 after converting time formate into 'MM':

formatDateTime('2020-10-12','MM')
