Need Assistance Modifying Existing Flow

Hi, 

I have a flow that was created to send email reminders to teammates based on the projects they have not yet completed. This is connected to a table in an Excel sheet. (The table is orgnaized by Project, Date Requested, Due Date, Request Type, Notes, Status, Today's Date, Team Mate Assigned, and Email Address.)The flow works perfectly, every individual gets a single email listing out the projects they have not yet completed with due dates that they have been assigned to.  As this is a scheduled flow, the email will get sent out every day at 8:30 AM, and at the moment, the individual only gets the email if they have incomplete projects. However, I would like to modify this flow to ensure that the email only gets sent out if the indivdual has incomplete projects, and if the project "due date is greater than "today's date". Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Hi @Adalb24 

Pls modify the expression in filter array action as mentioned below:

@and(equals(item(), items('Apply_to_each')?['Email Address']),greater(items('Apply_to_each')?['Due Date'], items('Apply_to_each')?['Today''s Date']))

Pls replace the first part (highlighted in red) with the existing expression in Filter array action.

You need to click 'Edit in advanced mode' link button at the bottom of Filter array action. Then copy the existing expression and replace it with the first part (highlighted in red) in the above expression.

I hope it will resolve the problem.

I have modified the existing expression, but I seem to keep getting the following error seen in the image I have attached. I used this expression: @and(equals(items('Apply_to_each_2'), item()?['Email ']),greater(items('Apply_to_each')?['Due Date'], items('Apply_to_each')?['Today''s Date']))

@and(equals(items('Apply_to_each_2'), item()?['Email ']),greater(items('Apply_to_each_2')?['Due Date'], items('Apply_to_each_2')?['Today''s Date']))

The expression was edited, but I get this error now:

Property selection is not supported on values of type 'String'. Please see https://aka.ms/logicexpressions for usage details.'.

Pls check the value of 'Due Date' column in the previous run history instance. It looks like flow is reading it as string but not as date.

Hi @ManishSolanki ,

Thank you so much for the assistance. The expression did allow the flow to run successfully, and the previous error no longer appears. Those who have a project with a status of not completed and which the due date is greater than today's date get an email. But now the flow also sends an email to those who have a project with a status of not completed and which the due date of the project is less than today's date, but this email is empty and does not list any projects.  It looks like the following below. These people should not be getting an email reminder at all.  Any advice on how I can prevent this empty email from showing up? Thank you!

Hi @Adalb24 

After "Filter array" action, pls add a "Condition" action which will check the length of records returned by filter array action. We will write an expression to calculate the length of records using length() function. Expressions are added in the expression window as highlighted in the screenshot:

Expression used for calculating the length of array:

length(body('Filter_array'))

Now, drag all the subsequent actions like "Create html table", " Send an email" etc. in the "If yes" block. This way we will avoid sending an email when filter array does not produce any output records.
