PowerApps and PowerAutomate Approvals integration

Hello Looking for some help for building up a flow with approvals connector but looking for a way to action the approve/reject part directly in powerapps. I have tried going trough the Approvals connector wiki but honestly Im a little bit lost and thus seeking some help from the experienced community. Thank you in advance for the help.

The approval connector can only start approvals if I recall correctly.

I have also read this, but honestly Im lost 🙂 Hoping there will be some way I can Action those. If not I have to seek an alternative to build with two step approvals that I will be able to action only trough PowerApps as this is a must for the users 🙂

What are you trying to approve? Is it a SharePoint item?

1. I have Employees that are requesting trainings via PowerApps simple app (SharePoint Item is created)
2. PowerAutomate then updates the item with a few details that Im taking from Excel sheet based on the EmployeeMail
3. PowerAutomate then sends an Email with options to manager for Active or Passive approval (Under Active I mean if the manger Actions it via the mail with options and for passive Im using the TimeOut function of the Mail with Options to make a separate branch because as per the rules, if the manager does not respond in 7 days, it is considered as approved. NB: This was the only way I was able to think about in order to have make it work for me. If someone has a better way to have all the three options Approved/Reject and Timed out in different manner and more usable please shout out)

4. Few updates are being done on the item trough the PowerAutomate
5. Now here I need another Approve/Reject where the team which handles the requests needs also to go trough approval process and this one Im seeking to be only in PowerApps. 
6. After that based on the outcome of step 6 I will update the item once again with few fields, add the employee to Teams channel and send him a mail

Hopefully its clear enough as in my head sounds easy but honestly I cannot get around it how to make within both platforms. Sorry for the long post 🙂

What exactly is the approve/reject part? Are you starting it with the standard approve/reject connector? If so you could try to have 2 buttons in the PowerApp which triggers a flow which does the data updates. I might be wrong here but the approvals are all stored in the "Approvals" table in dataverse, which im guessing you can update via flow. But as mentioned, im not sure that is best practice or even allowed.

The team just validates the data in a few cells ( It  can be done automatically but they want this one to be still done visually) and based on those cells they Approve or Reject. Nothing fancier 🙂 The part with the two Flows triggered in PowerApps sound legit 🙂

You can use the same flow just have different inputs based on action (Approve/Reject), that way its easier to maintain it.

My thought also but I dont know how to handle the two buttons in the powerapp i.e how to tell Flow that user has pressed approve or reject in powerapps

And then just do a quick if check at the start of the flow to check the input. 🙂

Exactly, its worth exploring if that solution works for you.

The onselect will be the same on both the buttons but with different inputs ("Approve" and "Reject")
