Receiving an error about type/format 'Array' is not convertible to type / format 'string/email.'

Hello-

I am trying to set-up a monthly reminder to owners to go into a list and provide updates to leadership on deliverables. The list has been created and the 'responsible persons' have been entered into the MS List. Here are the steps that I currently have, and I have tried it several other formats receiving the same error.

1) Recurrence- on the 28 of the month, run

2) Pull the list from the SharePoint

3) Get the items from the list

4) Send an email (V2).

Here is the picture of the automation, with the error at the top:

I see you have a nested apply to each. So, if I understand correctly your Responsible Person field allows the selection of multiple users?

 

If that is the case you need to make sure you use the correct fields in the two apply to each loop actions. Can you double check the below?

 

Apply to Each - Value

Apply to Each 2 - Responsible Person

To field - Responsible Person Email

@ManishSolanki, it if is empty it will simply skip the apply to each 2 loop. It shouldn't error in that case.

Hi @cmspowerauto,

 

It looks like you used the Responsible Person field (which is an object with the id, email and other properties of the person).

 

Can you try and use the Responsible Person Email field instead in the To field of your Send an Email (v2) action?

Thank you for your reply. It took a few different tries to get Responsible Person Email to come up in the field, but it eventually did. Once I got it, the error went way, but the flow failed- and no email was sent. Any other ideas of what could be wrong?

Hi @cmspowerauto 

 

Please check if there is a value present in Responsible person field in the SharePoint list. The email action will fail if there is no value in that field.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, every line in the list has a 'Responsible Person' entry / value populated. After it has run, and no email is sent, this is what the error looks like on each email entry:

@Expiscornovus   Thank you very much, this solved the issue! I had the 'Responsible Person email' - not 'Responsible Person' in the middle nest. As soon as I adjusted that, it ran perfectly. Thank you!

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!    This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can.
