SharePoint List - Check to see if a date has changed by more than 3 days since the last update

We have a SharePoint List that is fed from an Excel sheet. The information is pulled daily by Power Automate and it is updated with changes. Everything works. There are email reminders that go out each day at certains times for upcoming dates.

I've now been tasked with setting up a email reminder that will trigger when a date in a certain column has changed by 3 days or more (plus or minus) since the last time the flow was run. How would I go about this? The flow in it's current form sends an email if I change the date at all, but I want to make sure it's only able to send when the date is changed by 3 days or more.

I appreciate any help anyone's able to provide.

Hi @cquintin81 ,

Do you want to check if the arrival column modification interval is longer than three days?

If so, the list needs a column for saving previous time of arrival. Then compare two columns in condition and send email if three days are added the previous date is less than the current date.

Hi @cquintin81 ,

Please try this.

This flow runs daily to check if each item was last modified for more than three days since that day.

addDays(items('Apply_to_each')?['Modified'],3,'yyyy-MM-dd')

Hello Rimmon,

What I am looking to accomplish here is different.

I need the flow to check the "Arrival" column in our SharePoint List to determine if the date in that column has changed by more than or less than 3 days since the last time the flow was executed.

For example, if the flow runs on Tuesday and the date in the "Arrival" column is 6/12/2024, but the last time it ran on Monday, the date in the "Arrival" column was 6/8/2024, I want the flow to send out an email notification.

Thank you for your help.

Hello,

I ended up taking a different approach which seems to be working well so far...

I created two new columns inside my SharePoint List.

  • previousArrival: Regular date column
  • ArrivalDelta: Calculated column that finds the difference between the Arrival column and the previousArrival column in days.

I then created two flows that run sequentially (I'm sure there's a way to combine the two flows, but this is how I initially have it running). The main spreadsheet updates the SharePoint List information before these two flows run so the Arrival date column receives new information and these flows have time to calculate the difference in the dates.

  • Flow 1) "Arrival Date Changes"
    • Get items from list (Top Count: 5000, Pagination: 5000)
    • Update previousArrival column with Arrival column value

ArrivalDateChanges-001.pngArrivalDateChanges-002.pngArrivalDateChanges-003.png

  • Flow 2) "Arrival Date Changes (+/- 3 Days)"
    • Get items from list (Top Count: 5000, Pagination: 5000)
    • Filter Array using the Filter Query: or(greaterOrEquals(int(item()?['ArrivalDelta']), 3), lessOrEquals(int(item()?['ArrivalDelta']), -3))
    • Condition: length(outputs('Filter_array_(SharePointList)')['body']) is greater than 0
    • If True:
      • Select using the Body of the Filter Array to gather information for items that are applicable to send just one email instead of many
      • Create HTML table using the Output from the Select action
      • Compose action to draft email content
      • Send an email using Compose action output

I will mark Rimmon's answer as accepted since they gave me the idea to create new SharePoint columns.

Thank you,

Casey
