Team Message 30 Days prior to Due Date in Microsoft List Item

I am trying to write a Power Automate Flow to address the following;

1. I have an existing Microsoft List that has a Date Column, called [DueDate]

2. I wish to have a message sent to a Microsoft Group Channel 30 days prior to the DueDate arriving.

3. The message to contain selected information from the List Item that has the DueDate column information in it.

I recognise this can be done via an email, but can it be done for messages to a Team Channel? Can you help me write the Flow or point me to an Appropriate Flow that I might be able to amend/edit. I am new to Power Automate, so treat me gently!

Thanks,
c.

 Hi @chris_c1,

I think the error is caused by the null DueDate in your data source, please modify your flow as below:

if(empty(item()?['DueDate']), '0', item()?['DueDate'])

Qi

Hi @chris_c1,

Here is a simple demo, please check for reference:

vqiaqimsft_0-1686215175284.pngvqiaqimsft_1-1686215299661.png

addDays(utcNow(), 30, 'yyyy-MM-dd')
formatDateTime(item()?['DueDate'],'MM/dd/yyyy')

For the fields in Select part, you could use the item()?['FieldName'] for any text type column.

item()?['Title']

Best Regards,
Qi

I am unable to input this flow as written. Everything is good until I get to add the 'Select', my system then forces an 'Apply to each' within which sits the 'Select'. I have been able to enter all the other 'Select' details as indicated, but then when I get to the the 'Create HTML table' it does not give me an option for 'Output'.

See my flow below

Hi @chris_c1

You could copy the left actions on the clipboard, then just remove the apply to each.

Qi

Qi,

Getting closer... I now have the Flow reflecting your own correctly but get the following error on Test;

The execution of template action 'Filter_array' failed: The evaluation of 'query' action 'where' expression '@greaterOrEquals(item()?['field_8'], addDays(utcNow(), 30, 'dd-MM-yyyy'))' failed: 'The template language function 'greaterOrEquals' expects two parameter of matching types. The function was invoked with values of type 'Null' and 'String' that do not match.'

Really appreciate your help.

Thank you.

Hi @chris_c1  ,

Could you please check my solution one more time?

I have described it in details, and I wrote the formula by formatting the date as 'yyyy-MM-dd'

addDays(utcNow(), 30, 'yyyy-MM-dd')

Further, please attach the image of the one that how you configure the formula, which is important.

Please do check my first reply steps by steps.

Best Regards,
Qi

Qi,

I have entered the detail exactly as you suggest.

One think I didn't;t mention I am operating from the UK, where our date system is different than the US. Could that be an issue? Also my 'DOJ' column name is 'DueDate'. If that helps.

Error now is:
The execution of template action 'Filter_array' failed: The evaluation of 'query' action 'where' expression '@greaterOrEquals(item()?['field_8'], addDays(utcNow(), 30, 'yyyy-MM-dd'))' failed: 'The template language function 'greaterOrEquals' expects two parameter of matching types. The function was invoked with values of type 'Null' and 'String' that do not match.'.

I appreciate your assistance, but I am very new to this.

Qi,

SUCCESS! - Kind of. The Flow seems to be running correctly and the required messages are being posted to the relevant Team, Channel - All good. However the logic isn't giving me what I need. What I am looking to achieve is the following.

Some background

List name: Key Dates

Reference Column: Due Now (date type) which currently displays a DUE NOW value when another column DUE DATE meets criteria (30 Days prior to DUE DATE).

The Current (working-ish Flow (as below)
The Flow references the 'Due Now' column, and want it to ONLY send messages for those items that have the value 'DUE NOW' showing in the column. Currently it seems to spit out the information for every item in the list irrespective of the logic applied. I have carefully checked the logic - but am not able to spot the issue.

Flow - Select.jpg

I am finding this very useful learning too, so thank you for your time and patience with this issue.
