The provided value is of type 'Null in an expresion

Hello everyone,

 

Looking for some help. I am stuck with the below flow, the idea is to get only certain records from Salesforce.

1. From specific company names and also time created. (this works)

2. Then the condition to retrieve only the ones that have more than 3 hours of delay between the CreatedDate and Case_Creation_Date__c. (this does not work).

 

There is the expression used and causing an error.

div(sub(ticks(triggerBody()?['CreatedDate']),ticks(triggerBody()?['Case_Creation_Date__c'])),36000000000)
 
I have tried with this one two
div(sub(ticks(outputs('Get_records')?['CreatedDate']),ticks(outputs('Get_records')?['Case_Creation_Date__c'])),36000000000)

 

Here is the error

Unable to process template language expressions for action 'Condition' at line '0' and column '0': 'The template language function 'ticks' expects its parameter to be a string that represents a timestamp. The provided value is of type 'Null'. Please see https://aka.ms/logicexpressions#ticks for usage details.'.

 

For me, it seems that I am not using the correct code to retrieve the data from the previous step (Get records from SalesForce)

 

ticks(outputs('Get_records')?['CreatedDate'])

 

Any idea how can I call correctly that portion? outputs('Get_records')? and triggerBody()? do not work.

Can you try this instead. I see the items are stored in the value field of the body. I have added that field to the expression.

ticks(body('Get_records')['value'][0]['Created_Date'])

Get records will try and retrieve multiple records as an array. Even though it could only be one record in the result you still need would need to specify in your expression from which record you want the CreatedDate.

 

Can you try either a first function

ticks(first(body('Get_records'))['Created_Date'])

 

Or you could try and use an index like [0], [1], [2], etc.

 

First item

ticks(body('Get_records')[0]['Created_Date'])

 

Second item

ticks(body('Get_records')[1]['Created_Date'])

 

Btw, the triggerbody is the body from the trigger action. Which in this case is the Manually Trigger a flow action and not the Get Records action 🙂

Usually Power Automate creates a loop automatically if the result is an array (what should happen here). How did you create the formular. Did you type it on your own or did you use dynamic content (when the loop should have been created)?

 

Try to add a compose action after getting the record(s) and just add the dynamic content from the Date-Value you want to compare. After selecting it should create a loop. Let the flow run an see what is in the compose action.

Thanks for testing these expressions. Can you share a screenshot of your outputs section of the Get records action of one of your flow runs?

 

This way I can see the structure of the response and come up with a working expression.

The results in the Compose actions are looking good. If you now use the ticks-function is it working?

 

Why is there a space between the LabelText of the compose action (Looks like "Created Date" and not "CreatedDate"). Can you hover the expression for it please.

 

For me it looks like the formular you are searching for is something like:

 

ticks(first(body('Get_records'))['Created Date'])
 
But @Expiscornovus also wrote this a view posts ago.
 
So can you please post the expression of the current two Compose actions and the formular you are currently using.

We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can.
