Hi @gme-eg,

In this setup I believe an apply to each would not be needed. If you want to convert the start and end fields from the trigger action you can use an expression directly in the initialize variable actions.

Try the approach below instead.

Expression for Start

ticks(triggerOutputs()?['body/start'])

Expression for End

ticks(triggerOutputs()?['body/end'])

Hi @gme-eg,

Can you explain in layman's terms what you are trying to achieve with this flow?

Btw, my suggestion was to totally remove the apply to each action because in your setup you are only dealing with one event and not multiple events (which would require a loop). But I see that the action is still in your setup 😁

Or do you have a specific reason to still use an apply to each action?

Thanks a lot clear I adjusted it 🙂

but still, have this error: My aim to achieve by this flow as I have anther scheduled triggered flow run every week getting outlook events into excel online table some employees forget to log all events so I need this new flow to add any events added after 1st flow weekly  run

gmeeg_0-1650489465670.png

Hi @Expiscornovus here is the error fixed as  I just update the expression of action add row into the table as below and now it works well:

But when I modified any event it consider it as a new event and add a row to the table: Any Solution to why this happens?

gmeeg_0-1650530309556.png

 but final issue I have here if you can support to add experission to risrict the flow to add events before the last 7 days (maybe to be as 14 days before the last 7 days) this is because I have scheduled flow run every Sunday getting the previous week event into the table and this will make duplication.

Hi @gme-eg,

Just to clarify. Let's say an event gets created or modified today (21/04). You only want to register it in your Excel if it the start time of the event is between 28/03 & 10/04 (14 days) because the last Sunday run was on the 17/04 (which looked back 7 days). Is that correct?

In that case you could create a trigger condition to check if the start property is in a certain period. But that probably requires some calculation with the utcNow, dayofWeek & addDays functions.

Below is an example. I have test it with a couple of days. But you might need to test it a bit more to see if it works properly.

@and(greaterorequals(triggerOutputs()?['body/start'], addDays(utcNow(), int(concat('-',add(21,dayofWeek(utcNow())))))),lessOrEquals(triggerOutputs()?['body/start'], addDays(utcNow(), int(concat('-',add(7,dayofWeek(utcNow())))))))

Sorry I tried it several times and I'm getting this error 😞

Request to Azure Resource Manager failed with error: '{"error":{"code":"InvalidTemplate","message":"The template language expression evaluation failed: 'The template language function 'greaterorequals' expects two parameter of matching types. The function was invoked with values of type 'Null' and 'String' that do not match.'."}}'.

Hi @gme-eg,

This trigger action will also start when an event is deleted. Those items won't have a start field value. I reckon you are probably running into that issue.

deleted_events.png

To avoid getting this null error you could add another check that ActionType does not equal 'deleted' to the trigger condition expression. Try this instead:

@and(and(not(equals(triggerOutputs()?['body/ActionType'], 'deleted')), greaterorequals(triggerOutputs()?['body/start'], addDays(utcNow(), int(concat('-',add(21,dayofWeek(utcNow())))))),lessOrEquals(triggerOutputs()?['body/start'], addDays(utcNow(), int(concat('-',add(7,dayofWeek(utcNow()))))))))

Many thanks for your support now things started to be in the right way I didn't get any errors when tested the flow but noticed here some issues:

1- when an event is deleted or modified it considers it as a new event and adds a new row to the table. (I think I need to add additional actions to delete canceled events and modify updated events)

2- Just to clarify my flow to get outlook events runs every Sunday that means the last run was 24/4 then what I need is any events added after the run before 24/4 for example (14 days) to be added to the table and lock from 24/4 to next Sunday 1st May.

As currently, it is locked back for 14 days only added events till 15/4 added to the table after this date it is locked

@Expiscornovus any help I stuck in this error 😞

Hi @gme-eg,

1. Can you show an example of this? Some screenshots, outputs of the trigger action?

2. You response does not make it very clear because you are talking about a different point in time. My reply was on the 21st of April. That's why I said the last run was on the 17th of April. You replied back on the 27th of April. That's why for you the last run was on the 24th of April 😉

But if I understand correctly you just want retrieve events which are scheduled 14 days till the last Sunday run and have been missed by your other flow? My previous example was looking 21 days back. Which should clarify why you were getting unexpected results.

Thanks :), I will try to be more clear:

Here attached some tests I did, now the flow run today Sunday 5/8/2022:

then as per the expression, I need any newly added events back from today 21 days should be added to the excel sheet and ignore any newly added event from today till the next run in Sunday (from 5/8/2022 till 5/15/2022),

but what is happening now it is ignore any events added the week before 5/8.

the other issue as stated in the expression to consider deleted events I mean here it is not working when event is deleted or modified it considers it as new event so it makes duplicates

gmeeg_0-1652030078240.png

@Expiscornovus Hello 🙂 do you have any recommendation please as this expression is eliminating the week before run flow not after flow.

Will be appreciated if you can help me also in deleted and updates event issue 🙂

thanks in advance

Hi @gme-eg,

I had a look at the trigger condition expression again. I think it should now cover finding the last Sunday ran and than only looking for items scheduled in the 21 days before that last Sunday.

Try this expression:

@and(and(not(equals(triggerOutputs()?['body/ActionType'], 'deleted')), greaterOrEquals(triggerOutputs()?['body/start'], addDays(if(equals(dayofWeek(utcNow()),0), utcNow(), addDays(utcNow(),int(concat('-',dayofWeek(utcNow()))))), -21))), lessorequals(triggerOutputs()?['body/start'],if(equals(dayofWeek(utcNow()),0), utcNow(), addDays(utcNow(),int(concat('-',dayofWeek(utcNow())))))))

Perfect now it catch any added event before the ran flow date and restricted added event after ran flow, but I don't know why it duplicate the added event please see here 😞

@Expiscornovus

I did several tests but still have the same duplication in events I don't know the reason but what I noticed for ex: when an event is added and then another event is created after it cause the duplication please check below I hope you can support

Test Add Event4/30/2022 7:30
Test Add Event4/30/2022 7:30
Test0015/2/2022 10:00
Test0025/6/2022 10:30
Test0015/2/2022 10:00
Test0025/6/2022 10:30

I use this expression as it is but I added to it "updated" I expect to solve the issue when an event is modified it considers it as new and adds a new event and updated event. (But not working)

@and(and(not(equals(triggerOutputs()?['body/ActionType'], 'deleted', 'updated')), greaterOrEquals(triggerOutputs()?['body/start'], addDays(if(equals(dayofWeek(utcNow()),0), utcNow(), addDays(utcNow(),int(concat('-',dayofWeek(utcNow()))))), -21))), lessorequals(triggerOutputs()?['body/start'],if(equals(dayofWeek(utcNow()),0), utcNow(), addDays(utcNow(),int(concat('-',dayofWeek(utcNow())))))))

Hi @gme-eg,

I think it is a known issue within the Office 365 Outlook connector:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/connectors/office365/#known-issues-and-limitations-with-triggers

Trigger provides unnecessary updates When an event is added, updated or deleted (V3) An event can be updated due to internal Exchange processes and the trigger will fire again because of that. Users can filter a trigger's outputs on the Action Type parameter to ignore unnecessary updates.

You can use the expression below to add the filter for AcctionType not equal to updated. As you can see that is nested in another and.

@and(and(and(not(equals(triggerOutputs()?['body/ActionType'], 'updated')), not(equals(triggerOutputs()?['body/ActionType'], 'deleted'))), greaterOrEquals(triggerOutputs()?['body/start'], addDays(if(equals(dayofWeek(utcNow()),0), utcNow(), addDays(utcNow(),int(concat('-',dayofWeek(utcNow()))))), -21))), lessorequals(triggerOutputs()?['body/start'],if(equals(dayofWeek(utcNow()),0), utcNow(), addDays(utcNow(),int(concat('-',dayofWeek(utcNow())))))))
