Update Column with Send an http request with Person value

Hi @annajhaveri :),

Would you be able to help, please? This still relates to my previous list and library. I want to update Library column 'Created by' pulled from List item by sending an http request.

Okay, there are couple of changes to be done in the body parameter, first is remove quotes around the value of Project manager and change the ProjectManager column name to ProjectManagerId

So it should look as follows

"ProjectManagerId":4138

Hello,
thank you, however, I have already used this method and it didn't work. I am getting this error:
A 'PrimitiveValue' node with non-null value was found when trying to read the value of a navigation property; however, a 'StartArray' node, a 'StartObject' node, or a 'PrimitiveValue' node with null value was expected.

Could you please provide screenshot of the Send HTTP action that you have configured in your flow?

@Anonymous  You will need user id of project manager user to be used in order to update the value of project manager column. So before this rest call which you have shared in screenshot add another rest call with send http action and that http action should be configured as below screenshot, provide email of the project manager user in the URI getbyemail

annajhaveri_0-1608623826494.png

After this, use the body(GetUser)['d']['id'] to get the project manager user id in rest call to update the project manager value in item

body(GetUser)['d']['id'] - as an variable?

In your update item action provide the project manager value as below, body('GetUser')['d']['id'] you need to provide in expressions tab of dynamic content, first click inside the double quotes of "ProjectMember":"<clickhere>", then in expression tab of dynamic content paste body('GetUser')['d']['id'] and click okay, that should add value for ProjectMember in body property of Send HTTP action.

Please note as per below screenshot you need to add two Send HTTP action, first to get user id and then second to update item. The first action name should be GetUser.

Morning,

I am getting this error:

Veingro_0-1608631320161.png

Is it because the value 'managername' is 'odata' type and I am trying to get email address from it?

Please use single quotes instead of double quotes in the URI parameter e.g. _api/web/SiteUsers/getByEmail('test@test.com')

Anna Jhaveri

Done. Sam issue. ProjectManager column on the list is of type "person" and ProjectManagerId in the library as well.

ProjectManagerId doesnt need to be a separate column in the library. Can you share body parameter value here, i just want to see if it has any syntax issues.

Anna Jhaveri

Just to be clear. I am using a Person column in the list which I get the person's details from and then I am trying to update the Library column "person" with those details.

Yes i get that, and i tried it on my end and it works, please screenshot below. What i need from you is the body parameter value from your Send HTTP action which updates the item, for my action is it as following, i need yours please paste it in your response. There seems to be some syntax error in your body parameter value

{
"__metadata": {
"type":"SP.Data.Shared_x0020_DocumentsItem"
},
"testpersonId":@{body('GetUser')['d']['id']}
}

Are you sure of the value of type here for your library is SP.Data.PDLItem", can you please double check, otherwise i dont see any issues with your flow, i used the same body parameter value that you provided and it works for me, so the only issue i see could be with the type value.
