Update file properties in SharePoint

Struggling with this one but I'm sure it's going to end up a very simple solution.

My flow is a re-occurrence which should take place every day. I want it to the do the following:

1) Get all the documents in the document library which have a modified date of two years' ago

2) Switch on a 'Name' column to update an 'Email' column eg. if 'Select PI' = Bloggs, J, we need to update Email column to be 'J.bloggs@email.com'

3) Send an email to J Bloggs to tell them to update their paperwork.

It sounds super simple, but the flow just keeps on skipping over the Switch.

For the purpose of testing the flow, I have been using the filter query on the Created column instead: (Created eq 'formatDateTime(utcNow(), 'yyyy-MM-dd')'

and despite there clearly being a document created today, it is failing to pick it up

Can anyone see what I'm missing?

Hi @misc ,

The Created field is going to include the date and a time stamp. For example, an item created on 9th September 2022 at 10:53AM or 2022-09-02T10:53:00.

When you use the expression  (Created eq 'formatDateTime(utcNow(), 'yyyy-MM-dd')'), what you are really filtering for includes the date and the timestamp:  2022-09-02T10:53:22 eq 2022-09-02T00:00:00

and the condition will never evaluate to true. This is the reason why the filter query does not return any results

You could try the following expressions:

(Created ge 'utcNow('yyyy-MM-dd')') and (Created lt 'addDays(utcNow(),1,'yyyy-MM-dd')')

which should filter for item created dates between 2022-09-02T00:00:00 and 2022-09-02T23:59:59

The screenshot below shows the above expression entered in to the filter query::

Note the filter query in the runtime output: (Created ge '2022-09-02') and (Created lt '2022-09-03')

Hope this helps.

Hello @misc ,

Created is a date & time field, not only a date, and as such you can't compare it to just a 'yyyy-MM-dd'. 'yyyy-MM-dd' always adds the time 00:00:00 to the date. And since you're using 'equals' it'll probably never be equal due to the time part.

When filtering on a created date you must always use a range to find all the items created between 00:00:00 and 23:59:59 on that day, e.g.

Created ge 'addToTime(utcNow(), -6, 'Month', 'yyyy-MM-dd')' and Created lt 'addDays(addToTime(utcNow(), -6, 'Month','yyyy-MM-dd'),1)'
