When the status changes, how to capture the date?

Hello All, 

Could you do me a favor?

I have two columns in SP, 

One is date, the other is yes or not. 

When "Completed" is set to 'Yes,' the actual completion date should be recorded as the date when "Completed" was marked as 'Yes.'

The problem arises as the date keeps changing whenever the item is modified. (I incorporated 'Now()' whenever the item is changed.)

Additionally, upon implementing the following, the condition was not met despite the completion status being 'Yes.' This occurred during the initial creation of the item

I found a solution by myself. Please see the below my comment. 

The issue is that 'get changes for an item or files' is not working on when the first item is created on the SP list. So I broke down the flows. Please see the comments.

Hi @happyyear 

When Completed is 'No'  what's the Actual complete date? Is that blank? Then you could check whether its' null and if its Yes then update the value.

@abm Thank you for the reply. 

The issue is not regarding yes or no. When the item is created, I can add a condition (yes or no). 

The issue is that when I added 'get changes for an item', the first change (status is yes as a first time) was not be able to meet the condition in the below.

Hi @happyyear 

My understanding is that property get updated as true only in modification mode not created.  

I thought your issue is around the completion date getting overwritten hence I asked those questions earlier.

I figure out what the issue is. Since I am using the list, not libraries. that is why the changes for items is not working. ... I don't know how to resolve it. I have got stuck. ...

You mentioned "The problem arises as the date keeps changing whenever the item is modified." I am a little bit lost here. Could you please explain what you trying to achieve? Do you want to stop overwriting the Date under the completed field?

@abm Yes, I want to stop overwriting the date.. Also I want to capture the when the approved was 'Yes'

What I want is 

When the completed is yes, i want to capture (keep the date) the date even though other items change. (Since the trigger is when the item is created and modified)

I ended up creating 2 flows and resolved the issue. 

1) The first one. It was a normal flow using when item is created,(not when item is created or modified)  adding a condition. 

2) The second one is below

The reason is that the second workflow didn't work on SP list (when item is created and modified). 

That is why I broke down the flow. Anyway they are working well. Thank you for your help again!

Please see below.

Click on that right hand corner three dots and select Settings

Here set the trigger condition as below

@and(equals(triggerOutputs()?['body/Completed'], true),equals(triggerOutputs()?['body/ActualCompletionDate'], null))

Then next step:

This way it only triggers once when Completed flag is set to 'Yes' and ActualCompletionDate is null.
