add row to excel from Email

Hi,

I'm very new to Power Automate and I need some help. I have to create an automatic flow that adds rows to an excel sheet.

I tried to do it myself trough reading all the similar forum posts I could find, but I could not figure it out for myself.  Maybe there is someone who could lend me a hand.

I'll attach some screenshots to make it a bit clearer (added difficulty, because my Power Automate is in german)

I'm at the very beginning of my Power Automate journey, and in my company I'm the only one really trying to use it.

Just so you have an astimate of what to expect from me.

Thanks in advance

Hagen

Hi @Hagen_T,

A screenshot is better.

Please check this thread for details:

Further more, I think you should learn something basic in Power Automate to write an expression in the right palce of an action.

In case, you should add a compose and write the expression within the expression bar of the Compose, then refer to the compose in the field of your Add a row into table.

Best Regards,
Qi

Hi @Hagen_T,

If you want to extract special text from the email body, you need to do some research on some related expression like substring(), first(), split(),last(), indexof()...

Reference guide for expression functions - Azure Logic Apps | Microsoft Learn

In action html to txt, select body from email to get the text.

This is for Vorname :

first(split(last(split(body('Html_to_text'),'Vorname')),'Nachname'))

This is for Nachname:

first(split(last(split(last(split(body('Html_to_text'),'Vorname')),'Nachname')),'StraBe'))

So does the following part...

You just need to split based on the special part and capture the first of last needed part

Best Regards,
Qi

@Hagen_T

Welcome to Power Automate 🙂

You are on the right track. Once you have converted your HTML to Text (i.e. a string), you need to work out the best way to extract the values that you need. Once you have extracted them, you can insert them as dynamic properties using the lightning sign in your screenshot (at the end of the highlighted box).

There are various functions in Power Automate that you can use to parse text. Here is an overview of some of the possibilities: Parsing Email Text in Power Automate. There's also a lot of troubleshooting information on the forum...

Secondly, there are 3rd party tools that can help speed things up / make things easier. In this case, Encodian's Utility - Extract Text between Values action will be able to extract values from your email.

For instance, if you insert Start Value "Anrede" and End Value "Vorname", it will extract "Frau"

AlexEncodian_0-1704736700665.png

FYI – Encodian actions with the “Utility“ prefix only consume 1/20th of Encodian action count (apart from on free plan). For example, a Standard plan has 500 actions (so utility actions can be used 500x20 = 10,000 times)

Hi Qi,

thank you fpr your reply. I had my day off in between, thats why I answer today.

So I tried to do it, but I have the feeling I'm missing a step. I copied what you wrote and put it in the empty boxes in "add row to excel" and of course that didn't work.

So right now L'm reqading through the links you and Alex send me and really trying to understand what is wrong.

this is what happensthis is what happens

Hi Alex,

Thanks for your reply, and your warm welcome. To be honest I kind of understand what you wrote me and right now I'm reading trough your link. But I'm not sure how or where to implement what you wrote. Is there a step missing in my flow?

Hi Qi,

thanks again, I'll give it another try. And I will study the thread you send me. And you are right, there are a lot of basics in power automate that i need to learn and I hope I will. I just didn't now where to start, but now I have a better idea of what to do.

I will change this thread to solved.

Best regards,

Hagen
