csv to json, do some math, then update a SharePoint list

I have 2 csv files that are delivered to me attached to 2 different emails.  I've been playing around with Power Automate for the last few weeks and I've been able to create a flow for one of the csv attachments that converts the data to json then updates a SharePoint list with the data I need.  My next plan of attack is to record a few Office Scripts to manipulate the csv data and use that in a flow before converting it to json.  Before I get too far into that, I thought I'd post here to get a conversation going with the community.  Is there a more efficient way of doing this in Power Automate than recording Office Scripts?  How would you approach this project?

My final goal is a SharePoint list in this format.

PlayerTeamEvent 5 DateEvent 10 DateAverage Scorelvl 1 scorelvl 2 scorelvl 3 scorelvl 4 score
John DoeTeam 11/20/20241/1/20246.980211
Jane DoeTeam 11/18/202410/17/20236.580310
Ricky BobbyTeam 212/20/202312/19/20238.050121
Carley BobbyTeam 211/19/202311/1/20237.950112

The sample csv data:

playerdata.csv

This is where I get the data for the fields; Player, Team, Average Score, and the different lvl scores.

Average Score - The average score for the given player.

lvl 1 score - A count of scores between 0-4 for the given player.

lvl 2 score - A count of scores between 4-7 for the given player.

lvl 3 score - A count of scores between 7-9 for the given player.

lvl 4 score - A count of scores between 9-10 for the given player.

Hi @Chaffy ,

There is no such a OOB function can convert a CSV string to a JSON value. So it will be more troublesome to realize this requirement ,it requires a combination of data operations. I think this link will help you a lot:

https://sergeluca.wordpress.com/2018/10/28/microsoft-flow-advanced-tutorial-creating-a-csv-converter...

Best Regards,

Bof

Thank you @v-bofeng-msft!  I do have an Office Script that converts the csv data into json.  I was more looking for feedback on my approach.

I would try to avoid the Office scripts if possible simply because it adds the risk of someone deleting the file that stores the scripts, otherwise the overall scenario you described seems fine.

To avoid the Office scripts you'd need to parse the CSV rows yourself (the pain are the cells with comma separated values). Furthermore, I'd try to avoid loops, using Select and Compose actions wherever possible.

Script files are stored separately from the workbooks, so there's generally no reason to believe the file will be accidently deleted.
