sharepoint http post request SavePageAsDraft throwing badgateway

Hi all, as the subjects describes, i am having problems with a sharepoint http post request where i am trying to save a page as draft.

The page has been copied from a template first, and successfully checked out in previous steps of the flow. I am not sure why this specific request would not work. I can publish the page fine aswell. I am trying to push some changes to page body, but i believe if i send a /publish, it wont update the body content, so i am saving as draft first before sending a publish.

All the other steps in my flow using the ItemID work fine (such as publishing). Really confused as to why this is happening.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @bizza,

I see the body of your POST request is empty.

Can you try the same request with properties like the CanvasContent1 & LayoutWebpartsContent in the Body field of your Send an HTTP request action?

thanks for your reply. I have now worked out the issue. In another request where i did provide the CanvasContent1 and LayoutWebparts fields, i was missing the curly braces at the start and end of the request. unfortunately, im far from any sort of web dev and didn't realize i would need to include them, but makes sense in hindsight. There is no one stop shop guide for doing this kind of stuff unfortunately for me.

Between this thread and an older thread you replied in you'll be happy to know that you have helped me a lot to get this request done and my flow now works seemlessly, so i'd like to give you a big thanks and keep up the good work helping out us noobs. powerautomate is super powerful and ive only just recently learnt of it!

Hi @bizza,

One pointer I want to give is that the Developer Toolbar network tab is your friend in these kind of situations. You can create the page setup you require and see in the request which json it uses.

Below is an example how you could collect that json in FireFox.

thanks for the tip. I have been using that to collect to response and request headers but didn't realise i could go to that tab and collect the full json, i was getting it out of the flow outputs.

I think my big issue is that i just dont have any formal training in the web dev space, so little things like leaving curly braces out can really cause me some grief. I thought the request would just automatically enter and start updating variables (if you can call them that) within the body section variables because its the only thing that we are updating.

Id be much better suited to writing things like this using CSOM but im not sure itd be possible for me with my orgs setup, and then i wouldnt be able to utilize the cloud power of powerautomate as well either.

Thanks for pointing that out. I knew about it but was sure my json was correct, turns out it wasn't ha. Had some extra stuff in the bottom, past the Title tag. Anyway thanks again, spent a lot of time on this issue.
