Added Items in Form from another Table

OK,

   I have a Gallary that passes info off to a Form for viewing. Simple enough and straight forward. This data is stored in an SQL Databse and I have Foriegn Key LookUps; again no issues really. What I am stumped on is I have a field in the Table Called KitID which stores the ID of the Kit. I use the LookUp function to pass the KitID Name over from the Kit Table. What I know want to do is also add the Items in the Kit to the Form from the other Table (Kit Table). I am not sure how to do this. Basically lets say KitID 1 has Kit_Name School Supplies. So in th Form it will Display School Supplies via the Lookup function. I would also like to display the Items (Pens, Pencils, NoteBooks.....) on the form too. Any help is greatly appreciated as I am still learning the new tool and am finding tons of great opportunities to use it.

Hi @RichV ,

Could you please share a bit more about your scenario?

Do you want to display the items (Pens, Pencils, Notebooks) within your Edit form?

Based on the needs that you mentioned, I think the Filter function could achieve your needs. Please take a try with the following workaround:

Add a DataTable control within your Edit form, set the Items property to following:

Filter(
        'YourOtherTable',
         ID = ThisItem.KitID
)

then you could enable these desired fields you want to display within the Data Table.

More details about Filter function in PowerApps, please check the following article:

Filter function

Yes I can see how this will work! I will give this a try THANKS.

That worked perfectly the only odd issue I am experiencing now is the Data in the Table shows up during editing of the app. However, when I run the app the Table Shows "We didn't find any data to display at this time.". I have saved, published and refreshed the app and data multiple times. It works when I hit the Play Button in the editor or use the Alt Key to test buttons during editing; it just doesn't work when actually running the app.

Hi @RichV ,

I have made a test on my side, and don't have the issue that you mentioned.

Please consider take a try to turn off/disbale the "Explicit column selection" option within Advanced settings of App settings of your app, re-publish your app, then check if the issue is solved.

In addition, you could also consider take a try to save your SQL Table records into a Collection, then use the Collection as data source within your app instead of nature SQL Table data source.

I have made a test on my side, please take a try with the following workaround:

Set the OnVisible property of the first screen of your app to following:

ClearCollect(RecordsCollection, 'Your SQL Table')

Then set the Items property of the Data Table to following:

Filter(
        RecordsCollection,
        ID = ThisItem.KitID
)

Please take a try with above solution, then check if the issue is siolved.

Creating the collection worked perfectly! I has the Explicit Column Selectiod disabled already and the table still didn't work. However, making the collection worked!  Thank for the support.
