Adjust Toggle value with another Toggle

Hi, new app developer here. I am building a sample app for myself using SharePoint list. The data contains list of volleyball drills, each drill has YES/NO option to the skill sets.

I manage to have the search formula working, the search results will only show digging drills if the "Digging" toggle is selected for example.

What I can't work out though, is that if I have a toggle selected, first image below with "Defending" to "YES". It will automatically be switched back to "NO" if I selected another toggles. Tried different formulas and values in different fields and ended up completely confused myself.

"Defending" Toggle selected and filtered data correctly"Defending" Toggle selected and filtered data correctlyHow to automatically deselect all other toggles when another toggle is selected. How to automatically deselect all other toggles when another toggle is selected.

I enjoy learning by working things out on my own but I have hit an eternal roundabout here. Please help me find a way out.  🙂

Thank you,

Kevin

No worries - it's a bit misleading since we are using Toggles which are Boolean fields (true/false).

In regards to the properties, setting them as false (in this case) means they don't do anything. The OnSelect property (and OnCheck and OnUncheck) is a function hook. Meaning, that is an action that a user may perform, and then we want to now perform a function.

Is your behavior still happening?

Then you may have a Separate Select function somewhere which is 'selecting' the Toggle. Easiest way to check that is to Delete each Toggle one at a time, and see what breaks. You can expect the Filter to break, but if another Control breaks then it may have been causing the issue.

To confirm:

  • The Toggle controls are user-controlled (not set automatically)
  • The Toggle's correlate with filtering logic only
  • The Toggle's should not be reset or changed, except by the User

Double check the following properties of your Toggle controls.

  • Default - what you want it be shown as when the app loads initially, should be true or false
  • OnSelect - what should happen when it is selected, should be false
  • OnCheck - what should happen when it is toggle to True/checked, should be false
  • OnUncheck - what should happen when it is toggle to False/unchecked, should be false

You can also select all of your Toggles, and update all 4 of those properties using the property bar, to be sure they are all false.

Hi Gareth,

Thank you for your prompt reply. I can confirm all toggles are user-controlled and correlate with filtering logic only.

Can I ask why should the value in the "OnSelect" be "false"? Shouldn't that be "true" if a toggle is selected?

Keen to know what's the next step.

Thanks,

Kevin

The data is filtering correctly whenever a toggle is selected. Is there a way to switch all other toggles to OFF when selecting a toggle?

Hi Gareth,

I just tried "Reset(Toggle)" in the "OnSelect" field and it seems to work. So I will try "Reset(Toggle1) && Reset(Toggle2)....." for multiple toggles?

Thanks Gareth,

It did work. Thanks for explaining how each field is meant to do. That helped me a lot.
