App works fine on PC, gives patch error on Samsung S23 (and possibly other phones)

I made a PowerApp connected to a Excel file. It is very basic, just to register the fuel ups of a vehicle.

It works flawlessly on my PC, but when I wants to submit the form on my smartphone, I get the following error:

(It's in dutch)

Netwerkfout bij gebruik van functie Patch: Er is een onbekende fout opgetreden

 

Especially the 'unknown error' makes it very difficult to troubleshoot...

 

The excel file is not updated with this error...

 

Does anybody knows where to start?

Hi @Danny5 ,

You are correct that it is very hard to find when it works on a PC. Excel is a terrible data source and this may actually be the cause here. Do you have access to SharePoint Lists ? Also what is your Patch code (in Text please)

And it's getting more weird.....

I shared the app with someone, and with that person it works fine.....

 

I use the submitform function, which I understand it uses the patch function.

Where can I find the underlying code?

If you use SubmitForm, it is possible that one of the Data Card Update settings do not match the relevant data source field structure, so you would normally have to check each one of them, however an intermittent error like this is the worse kind to find as you need to replicate it to know if you have fixed it with whatever you need to change. As I mentioned, Excel had a habit of not working at times when it should.

@WarrenBelz the problem is that I need the data in Excel to use them in other macro's and to create statistics/charts.....

So I don't really want to change the source.

The update setting should match the source fields, since they are updated like it should by the app on the pc and on the second gsm.....

I guess it should be something to do with the settings on my phone......

When I open the app on the browser on my s23, and run it there, I get the same error...

Could having a 'work account' (and probably extra safety rules) have something to do with it?

In the browser, I opened in on the personal account too, but the problem stays.

Are you running this on your phone in a browser or on the App ? If a browser, it probably explains the issue - Power Apps was not really designed to run on this (hence the App)

Sorry not much more in the way of ideas, although I will point out that you cannot have an Excel Sheet open outside Power Apps when anyone has it open in Power Apps, so you macros etc will not be able to used while the PA is using it. You might also watch this video - unfortunately you are probably going to have a lot more frustration than this if you continue with Excel, particularly if the list grows to any substantial size.

A little update, but no progress actually....

 

It seems like it is a problem with the phone settings....

I do get connection with the excel, since I can collect data to fill in the list on the combobox....

I just get a patch error if I try to save.

I asked somebody else to login on my phone, (the app works on his phone) and on my phone it didn't work.

If I login on his phone, it works fine....

Tried to reinstall powerapps, both on my personal account and my work account, but the problem stays....

I guess I solved it......

Throw the submitform overboard and used the patch command instead.

Now it works.

Just need a workaround for the check if the form is complete, but that will be for tomorrow....

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!   This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions in the Forums to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.
