Calculating average for a column in data table

Hi there, Can someone help me in calculating the average of a column from the data table?  I have already tried but it's giving an error. I have even changed the datatype but nothing worked.

You need the average of the source (Items) of the Data Table - if a list

Average(ListName,FieldName)

Hi @WarrenBelz, I have pulled an excel spreadsheet through the connector and tried to create a datatable. The Penetration Score column is from the datatable. I have used the formula as - Average(data table name, 'Column_name'). And it shows there is an error in the datatype.

Hi @sandeepmallela ,

Data Tables are far more restrictive in their references and function than a Gallery - Average simply does not work on them. Try a Gallery and do 

Average(GalleryName.AllItems,FieldName)

and all will work. Either that or go back to the collection or table and average that.

@WarrenBelz Hi, After changing the data table to Gallery, I still face the same errors. Below is what i get

"Invalid argument type(control). Expecting a number value instead. The function average has some invalid arguments" - I think this happens when the respective column is not a number data type. I ensured that the column is of number data type.

Hi @sandeepmallela ,

That is an Excel screenshot you have there - assuming you have the 'Penetration Score' value in the gallery, it should be (depending on how you store your Data)

Average(
   YourGalleryName.AllItems,
   'Penetration Score'
)

or

Average(
   YourGalleryName.AllItems,
   Value('Penetration Score')
)
