I have been trying to pass values from my canvas app to a flow so I can use the values in the columns to create a SharePoint site.
The flow works when configured to trigger when a new item is created in sharepoint. But I want to skip sharepoint alltogether and create the site from the canvas app, but I can seem to get the reconfigured to instant flow to run. I can add the flow to the app but when I call the flow run using the OnSelect property, it doesn't seem to like the syntax. I have recreated the flow several times, used different names but for sum reason it doesn't like my syntax (image below)
ClearCollect(
NewSiteDetails,
{
SiteTitle: SiteTitle.Text,
SiteDescription: SiteDescription.Text,
SiteAddress: SiteAddress.Text,
SiteOwner: SiteOwner.SelectedItems,
SiteTemplate: SiteTemplate.SelectedText.Value
}
);
Set(
FormObj,
JSON(NewSiteDetails));
NewSiteCol.Run(NewSiteDetails);
I don't understand what is wrong with it, am I missing something?
I appreciate any and all suggestions;
Thank you;
DWTKBrook

Hi @Anonymous ,
What @ANB said is correct. Unless you need to pass a Collection to Power Automate, you should pass each parameter separately.
Your flow should be set up with the Trigger "PowerApps (V2)" so you can setup your parameters like this:
Simplified, your code would look like:
NewSiteCol.Run(SiteTitle.Text,SiteDescription.Text,SiteAddress.Text,SiteOwner.SelectedItems, SiteTemplate.SelectedText.Value);
If you did truly need to pass a collection to your flow, then you would declare a single input to accept your JSON variable "FormObj" and pass that to NewSiteCol.Run. In the flow you would need to Parse the JSON. All of this is probably making things more complicated than it needs to be.
Since you are calling this from a Power App, you may also want to add a Response such as:
Then you can tell your Power App if the flow succeeded. If your flow is a long running process, the Response Action can be put at the beginning of the flow just to let the Power App know that the flow was called successfully and is running.

reason it's not working is your :
SiteOwner: SiteOwner.SelectedItems
You trying push Table to Text Field SiteOwner need to be type text it's how You set it in Power Automate
@Anonymous
Hi @Anonymous ,
You are passing whole collection as input parameter, rather then use below format:
NewSiteCol.Run(First(NewSiteDetails).SiteTitle,
First(NewSiteDetails).SiteDescription,
First(NewSiteDetails).SiteAddress,
First(NewSiteDetails).SiteOwner,
First(NewSiteDetails).SiteTemplate)
I hope this helps.

Hello @ANB - Thank you for your suggestion, however it didn't seem to like that syntax either;
Cheers! DWTKBrook
Hi @Anonymous ,
You need to map the input parameter of your instant flow and then pass the value from app respectively. Could you please share screenshot of your Flow? What input parameter are used on Instant Flow ? Also send the screenshot of error message.
I hope this helps.

Hello @ANB
I've never triggered an flow from an app before. I fist just wanted to see if I could get the values from the app into the flow for use. See below for the flow config;
Thank you,
DWTKBrook
Just a note to make sure in the Flow that it has "Ask in Powerapps" for the parameter
that way you can pass it in.
added that, when I select it, in the email body it gives me the following
Not the actual field names from the app
Thank you,

Hello @MarkBandR , I have reconfigured both he flow and app as per your suggestion, but for some reason It still doesn't accept the syntax;
Flow;
Thank you,
DWTKBrook
Hi @Anonymous
Try to refresh the flow in the Power App.
If that doesn't work, then remove and re-add the flow. That should get Power Apps to recognize the inputs.
I don't know if you are going to run into issue with your last input as a Drop-down list of options. If your Power Apps is already determining those options, you don't need to declare them in your flow. Just pass the selected value to a text input.
