Hoping this is something simple. I have a custom connector with a method called GetOrders. I have been able to successfully bind it to my gallery control by setting the Items property to the following:
MyConnectorName.GetOrders({OrderStatuses: "PAID"}).Orders
I get order records to display in the gallery fields by using ThisItem.Fieldname, but for some of the numeric fields I get the following message:
"This formula uses scope which is presently not supported for evaluation".
Is this a datatype issue that I can resolve by converting the value to a plain text value? I am able to display text fields and datetime fields fine, but any type of numeric value displays that message.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Could you please show more details about the Response Body JSON Schema value you specified for the GetOrders action in your custom connector?
Regarding the issue that you mentioned, I agree with you, I think this issue may be related to data type incompatible. In other words, the data type of the "OrderTotal" column retrieved from your REST API is not compatible with the data type you defined for this column in your custom connector.
From the screenshot that you mentioned, it told that the "OrderTotal" column is a Text value rather than a Number value.
Please consider edit your custom connector, go to the "GetOrders" action, then edit the "Response" part of this action, then find the 'OrderTotal' column in the Body part:
then edit it like above screenshot. Then within the Field property panel, change the Type option to "number", and change the Format option to "double" option as below:
then save your custom connector, then within your canvas app, re-create a new connection to the custom connector, then try your action again, check if the issue is solved.

Thanks for the guidance. I'm sure that will work. I think there are a bunch of fields defined as Text, but the json response has them as numeric. I will respond back and accept the Solution once I confirm that's it.

Thanks, that did the trick. Lesson learned....make sure your custom connector's API definition is well defined before using in powerapps.
