Cannot Patch due to Network Error

Hey guys!

I'm creating a canvas app with a patch button that is supposed to create a new item in a SharePoint List.

The List is located in a site in where I have Full Control.

When testing the app, I'm getting this error regarding a Network error:

adrian_glz_0-1681238133471.png

It really doesn't give me much more information to work off of.

I previously tested it in an Excel sheet and had no issues.

I created the List, added the Data source, and adjusted the button's function accordingly. Not sure if I'm missing something but for some reason it might not be connecting to the List properly.

Patch('ListTest',Defaults('ListTest'),
{
    Timestamp:DatePicker.SelectedDate,
    Shift:ShiftRadio,
    Auditor:User().FullName,
    'Team Member':MemberDropdown,
    'Audit Notes':NotesTextInput,
    'Tagging Post':CSCommsRadio1,
    'Assertive Communication':CSCommsRadio2,
    'Problem Resolution':CSCommsRadio3,
    Notes:CSCommsRadio4,
    'Additional Resources':CSCommsRadio5
}
)

 I appreciate the help in advance!

Choices column:

A Choices data type does not return a single value but returns a TABLE of values. Referencing the choice field without specifying the associated selection is not going to patch your data source. You need to correct your statement from “'Assertive Communication':CSCommsRadio2” to “'Assertive Communication':CSCommsRadio2.Selected

People column:

As above, this is a Choices data type, but this not only returns a TABLE but also a record with different fields in the record. The record will have a pattern which looks like:

      {

         Claims: ,

         Email: ,

         DisplayName:"",

         JobTitle:"",

         Picture:""

      }

@adrian_glz - try a few of these classic checks as a start:

  1. Remove each field from the patch one by one until the error disappears to pinpoint which field is causing the problem.
  2. Check if you are patching text values to a number column (and vice versa) or if you’re patching to a choice field
  3. Check if any of those fields have "enforce unique values" enabled and you're not patching to a field which already has the same value
  4. If any of your fields are a choice field type, check if the choice from the combo box/dropdown in the app exists in the available choices in the SharePoint list. If not, you will need set the SharePoint choice column to allow “fill in” choices (or 'can add values manually' in modern SharePoint).

Thank you for the reply!
I've started going field by field and I am seeming to have the following issues:

For the choice-type columns (which are all Radio controllers), I've already made sure the choices where exactly the same as the ones in the List. When patching, no error seems to be triggering, but I saw that the item in the list is not populating that field.

I tried changing the function to ShiftRadio.Selected.Value but it's telling me that it does not match the type 'Record', as it's looking for 'Text'.

For the Team Member and Auditor column: I have it set up as a Person or Group type. It doesn't seem that it's recognizing my user for the Auditor column or the Team Member dropdown's selected value, which it's automatically fed by another List.

Thank you for the links!

I managed to have all of them working except for one. I think maybe it's because it has a unique set up.

It's the Team Member column.

I have a "MemberDropdown" that has the Items parameter with the following formula. This is for the user to choose the Team Member based on another SP List. Only those with a role od Admin and the previously selected shift should show up.

Filter('Team Members',Role.Value="Admin",Shift.Value=ShiftRadio.Selected.Value)

When patching, for the Auditor column (which is the member using the app) has the following formula

 Auditor:
    {
        Claims: Concatenate("i:0#.f|membership|",User().Email),
        DisplayName: User().FullName,
        Email: User().Email,
        Picture: "",
        Department:"",
        JobTitle:""
    }

 But for the Team Member, column I'm quite unsure how to handle the formula.

I've tried replacing User().FullName and with MemberDropdown but to now avail.

Any idea what could be a better way to approach this?

Posting an update as I managed to solve it!
All I needed is to create a variable OnChange on the MemberDropdown with a Lookup function to get the member's email from the other List's People column.

I then used the variable to replace the User().Email portion when patching the Team Member column.

I appreciate the help @Amik ! I found the video most useful!
