Cannot remove connector (Power BI)

I have an app where I added the PowerBI tile once and removed because I realized that it was not needed.

Since then, every time someone wants to use the app, it will ask for the user to authorize the various apps like O365Users, SharePoint, SQL but also PowerBI even if it's not used in the app.

I tried to remove the connection from my account.

I can see it disappear from the connection used in the app but it comes back as I try to Edit it again.

Because of this, users that don't have (nor need) a PowerBI license cannot use the app at all.

Is there something wrong with my app or with the PowerApps service? I'm out of ideas!

Supposedly you can export the app and go into the source code and delete the connections from the JSON.

I tried this with an app, with no success, kept getting error on re-upload. but just search remove connection from powerapps, maybe it will work for you

Could you please share a bit more about your issue?

Do you mean that you could not remove the Power BI Connection from your canvas app permanently?

Regarding the issue that you mentioned, it is actually an known issue within canvas app. Once you add a data source connection into a canvas app, when you remove it from your canvas app, when you run your published canvas app again, it still ask you to provide credential to connect to the removed connection.

Actually, when you remove the data source connection from your canvas app, it would not removed from this app's configuration. So, if you want to remove the Power BI connection from your canvas app, please consider edit the configuration file of your canvas app, then remove the Power BI connection config info from the configuration file.

1. Export the app from power apps, comes down as a compressed folder (zip), extract the contents of the compressed folder (zip).

2. In the root of the compressed folder you will find a "manifest.json"  in there is a "dependsOn":[] section, simply remove the unwanted parts.

3. Then under --> Microsoft.PowerApps --> apps --> {someID} --> {someID}.json . Open up the json file and look for the section 

"connectionReferences":{} again remove the unwanted parts, in your scenario, you should remove the Power BI connection part.

4. Then save the modified files back the folder with the same names,then making sure the manifest.json file and Microsoft.PowerApps folder are in root, compress(zip) the folder back down. 

5. Import/Upload the compressed folder (zip) back into power apps.

Thank you for this suggestions.

However, a member of my team found a simpler troubleshooting action.

1. Remove any PowerBI components

2. Remove the PowerBI connector

3. Manually add the PowerBI connector and remove it again

4. Save & Publish
