Hello
I have created an app we use to track company assets. On one page I have a working gallery that is connected to a sharepoint list. When an item is selected it shows in an editable form. All data pulls thourhg expect the username. The data shown should include a user name the asset is assgned to which is from the orgs users. However that info doesn't pull through. When trying to select a user name all I get is a list of numbers as below. These do not seem to be associated with any user information we can find.
I have also tried changing the Items for the combo box to an Office365Users.SearchUsers but this doesnt make a difference
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Hi @NinaD1,
The combobox does not seem to have a default display field value. When selecting the Fields section in the right property panel, the pop-up is empty.
Would it be possible to set the combobox Items property back to the default 'Choices()' value, select 'Add field' in the 'edit fields' pop-up (see your second screenshot) & select the column you would like to display e.g. DisplayName.
If this solves your question, would you be so kind as to accept it as a solution & give it a thumbs up.
Thanks!
Hi @LaurensM
Thanks for your answer, In this screenshot Items is set to the default, sadly as you can see on the right screenshot it is not giving me the option to choose a column to display.
Thanks
Hi @NinaD1,
It may be beneficial to delete the datacard & add it again to your form to start with the default values. Normally you should be able to select 'Add Field' in the side pop-up and indicate the column you would like to display. Unfortunately I am currently unable to provide a Power Apps editor screenshot but the following post has showcased this approach as well.
I hope this helps!
Hi @LaurensM
Sadly I have also tried this approach. I even deleted the whole form and started from scratch and no dice. At this point I'm starting to worry my only option may be to start the app from scratch which I'd rather avoid
Thanks for your suggestion
Hi @NinaD1,
If I understand it correctly 'User' is a SharePoint Person column and you are using the Power Apps browser editor. What happens when you press 'Add Field' in the side pop-up - no columns are displayed in that pop-up? I have provided the steps below as a reference.
Select the combobox / DataCardValue and go to the right property panel.
As a note for Person Multi-Select fields: once I selected a display column, it seems the combobox did not display any information even though for that item multiple people were selected in SP. I was able to resolve this issue by adjusting the combobox DefaultSelectedItems property from [Parent.Default] to Parent.Default (removed the square brackets).
In regards to a single-select person column: I unfortunately am unable to replicate the issue on my end. After indicating the display column, the correct selection (& respective column) was displayed. Please note however that, as of the time of writing, the modern Form control is still in preview. You can always opt for the classic 'Edit Form' instead and style it accordingly.
I hope this helps!
Hi @LaurensM
Thanks for your detailed response. Sadly this didnt work for me. The options just weren't there no matter what type of form I used.
I ended up leaving it for the weekend and now its working again so I only assume it was a more general issue rather than anything I was missing.
Thanks again for all your suggestions, hopefully it doesnt happen again!
Great to hear that the issue has been resolved @NinaD1! 😊
When referring to 'working again', do you mean the columns are now available in the 'Add field' section?
