Cascading Dropdown with people picker column

Hi Folks,

i have been trying to create a solution which involves cascading dropdowns. Now i am fetching data from another list into my application. List Name( GAC LIST).
Now i have successfully created a 2 level cascading dropdown but when i try to create the third one which is a people picker column i am not able to do it.

So scenario : select Department - > Filters Project -> Select Project - > Filters People Picker Column. I am stuck at the third part which is Filter people picker column.

Any help would be appreciated.

@mdevaney

  • I would like the people picker column to be filtered upon the selection of project column dropdown.
  • i cannot provide you sample data but my data source is a sharepoint list. i have a column called function and project and Business Lead. i am successfully pulling data of function and when i select function i filter out projects and when i select projects i filter out business lead.
  • Datasource is Sharepoint list

please find a screenshot of my form below

Please tell me if there is anything else which is needed.

@Anonymous

If you cannot provide sample data can you please create your own for how the business lead will be filtered by project?

@mdevaney  i am trying to get the business lead name from GAC List which is my source. i am not sure what are you asking for, but when i select project it should filter out business lead name.
in the below screenshot i have a list item with function : Purchasing , ProjectName/Work Name : Improvements to MCO/MCN Tracker and Business Lead as Michael lawernce.
in my app i am able to cascade function and work name successfully so when i select function project name filters out and when i select project business lead should filter out but i am not able to filter out business lead.

Hi @Anonymous,

Here is my understanding about your scenario and what you are trying to achieve:

You have 2 SP lists, one as the data source of the app to manage its items, one called "GAC" and you want to use it to cascade Dropdown with people picker field of List1.

If my understanding is correct, please tell us the column type of Function field in GAC list. I assume that it's a Choice column.

And is each Function field has only one Business Lead? If so, then please achieve this by setting the Default property of the peopicker to:

{'@odata.type':"#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
        Claims:Concatenate("i:0#.f|membership|",Lower(First(Filter(GAC,Function.DataCardValue1.Selected.Value)).Business_x0020_Leader.Email)),
   DisplayName:First(Filter(GAC,Function.DataCardValue1.Selected.Value)).Business_x0020_Leader.DisplayName,
         Email:First(Filter(GAC,Function.DataCardValue1.Selected.Value)).Business_x0020_Leader.Email
}

DataCardValue1 is the dropdown control for Function field.

Mona

@v-monli-msft i tired the the solution that you have provided but it did not work. i am trying to filter Business lead on selection of project not function. Project is referred to as work name in GAC List and is single line text datatype. i tired your code in the default of business lead datacard but it did not work and also it did not give any errors. please find the attachment for the code.

Hi @Anonymous ,

By "Project is referred to as work name in GAC List and is single line text datatype.", did you mean that “Project” is a lookup column, its source is "GAC List" and the single line text column "Work Name"? If so, please try below formula instead:

{'@odata.type':"#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
        Claims:Concatenate("i:0#.f|membership|",Lower(First(Filter(GAC,'Work Name'=DataCardValue1.Text)).Business_x0020_Leader.Email)),
   DisplayName:First(Filter(GAC,'Work Name'=DataCardValue1.Text)).Business_x0020_Leader.DisplayName,
         Email:First(Filter(GAC,'Work Name'=DataCardValue1.Text)).Business_x0020_Leader.Email
}

DataCardValue1 should be the label control's name that have the Work Name column value in it.

Mona

@v-monli-msft  the project column is a look up column whose source is GAC List and column is work name. it is dependent on the function column whose source is also GAC List.  Project is a single line text but i have changed its data type to accept values so it has become a drop down in my form.  Please find the formula for Project Column.

Now as per your suggestion i have made the required changes to my business lead people picker column however there is no success. Please can you suggest any more changes if there are any , as i am really struggling with this issue. Please find the image for my changed code. I cannot select Datacardvalue5.Selected.Value i have to select work name which is the GAC list column as you see in my formula

{'@odata.type':"#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
        Claims:Concatenate("i:0#.f|membership|",Lower(First(Filter('GAC List','Work Name'=DataCardValue5.Selected.'Work Name')).Business_x0020_Leader.Email)),
   DisplayName:First(Filter('GAC List','Work Name'=DataCardValue5.Selected.'Work Name')).Business_x0020_Leader.DisplayName,
         Email:First(Filter('GAC List','Work Name'=DataCardValue5.Selected.'Work Name')).Business_x0020_Leader.Email
}
