Central Camera patch to Collection

So, I'm creating a Camera system and I'm wanting to allow users to be able to save these photos, edit the names and then save them into a separate photo gallery so I can keep them sorted and organized.  I'm trying to do this without creating a separate item for each area they'll want a camera point - so built a nice pretty  central camera with a preview gallery so they can see their photos and now it's time to just save them into the separate galleries.

I can't seem to find or figure out how to assign a gallery name either by Text Input, assigned variable (done from button click to open camera gallery and assign some item specific flares), or anything other than creating a new capture command with an explicit statement/name defined....

So...if you were going to try and create a single Camera capture area in your app, that you'd need to save photos from a variety of places/reasons/whatever into the app...how would you do it and keep it scale-able?

I've done up to 15 or 20 of these camera sections in previous apps and they take forever to modify and seem to bloat the crud out of everything, so trying to streamline this process.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Do you want to use caputred pictures to update data source?

Could you tell me what is the data source and the field's data type that you want to update with pictures?

Do you also want to change the capured pictures' names in PowerApps?

I'm afraid it's not supported to change capured pictures' names in PowerApps currently.

But after you update the pictures, you could use flow to change this file's name.

I assume that your data source is sharepoint, please try Create file action in the flow.

Here's a similar issue for your reference:

https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Power-Apps/Name-a-Photo-from-Powerapps-in-SP-Library/td-p/145508

If my understanding is not right, please describe the function that you want with pics.

Actually, I may not fully understand what you talked about.

Not really, but think I didn't explain it clearly the first time.

so quick simplification of project so it helps in design:

  •      2 categories, 2 sub tabs/categories, 2 pages per sub-category, 1 question per sub-category
    • Category
      • Sub
        • Page
          • Question
            • Photos

  •      Each question needs the capacity to store up-to 10 pictures associated with that question.

What I've basically come up with is  a drop down with coding 'on Change':

UpdateContext({TimerStart:true,Question:Cat2_Tab2_Page1_Q1_lbl.Text, CQ:"Cat2_Tab2_Page1_Q1", SelectedResponse: Cat2_Tab2_Page1_Q1_drp.SelectedText.Value});
If(IsBlankOrError(First(Filter(Responses,Question_Number=CQ))),
Collect(Responses,{Question: Cat2_Tab2_Page1_Q1_lbl.Text,Question_Number:CQ,Selected_Response:Text(Cat2_Tab2_Page1_Q1_drp.SelectedText.Value)}),
Patch(Responses,First(Filter(Responses,Question_Number=CQ)),{Selected_Response:Text(Cat2_Tab2_Page1_Q1_drp.SelectedText.Value)}))

My Camera screen displays the questions text for a reference, the response selected.  Now ideally what I want to do is apply the 10 photos directly into the Responses collection.  I cannot seem to figure out the right Patch statement to get this thing to apply the photos into that collection.

I can do a simple Collect and get my 10 photos into a new Collection instead, but then I've tried 'saving' them into the Responses collection and that doesn't seem to work either.

***Edit***
Here are some attempts on the capture button -

it at least gives me my name in the right place, however for some reason it's not giving me the picture. - increment the 1 for each other number:
     If(Pic1,UpdateIf(Responses,Question_Number=CQ,{Picture1:Master_Camera_dsp.Photo,Picture1_Name:(Text(CQ)&"_01"&".jpg")});UpdateContext({Pic1:false})

Does nothing but looks pretty:

     Patch(Responses,If(IsBlankOrError(First(Filter(Responses,Question_Number=CQ)).Picture1),{Picture1:Master_Camera_dsp.Photo,Picture1_Name:Concatenate(Text(CQ),"_01")}

     UpdateIf(Responses,Question_Number=CQ,If(IsBlankOrError(First(Filter(Responses,Question_Number=CQ)).Picture1),{Picture1:Master_Camera_dsp.Photo,Picture1_Name:Concatenate(Text(CQ),"_01")}

***Edit***

End goal is to end up with a  single collection with the Question number, questions text, selected response, camera_capture 1-10.

Something like that for each question that I can then shoot over to SP to hold onto (Yes I know you have to correct the coding on the pictures to get them to save into SP)

OK - so I have a solution in mind but I'm really now running into a problem with figuring out how to Patch/update/whatever the Camera.Photo into an existing Collection and to a specific Record (Ideally to a specific field)

Hopefully that's possible - if not might have to go in reverse and patch my responses into the Camera collection via the name or something.

So anyone have success patching a Camera into a Collection in any fashion?  or any other ideas?
