Change value of hidden form field + change button color by clicking an other button

Hi guys,

I wanne do something very simple:

I have a text field (Linked to a SharePoint list) which should be later hidden and I want to set a value to this form field by clicking one of 4 buttons. Every button set the different value to the text field. Also the last button which was clicked should be highlighted by a different background color, the colors of the other 3 reset to normal.

I was trying following with no success, when I click the button nothing happens:

On the 'Onselect' event of the button:

DataCard1.Text = "SomeValueText"

or

NameOfField.Default = "SomeValueText"

Also things like this do not work by clicking the button:

OnSelect: Button6.Color = Red

Or

OnSelect: FormObjectExample.Visible = false

It tried the forums and google and it seems to be quite complicated to manipulate properties within a SharePoint-Form. Could anybody give me please some hints or examples?

Hi @Mika,

I may be misunderstanding, but if you want to change properties on the click of a button you will need to use variables. it would be similar to the following:

Button OnSelect property:

set(VariableName,true);

then set the visible property of the textbox/label that is related to that button to whatever you make your variable name, in this example it is 'VariableName'. this will change the visible property to true when the button is clicked. similarly on the other buttons you will set a different variable to true.

if you don't want the textbox/label to remain visible if a different button is selected, you will want to set the other variables to false in the onselect property as follows:

set(VariableName,true);
set(VariableName2,false);
set(VariableName3,false);

you can also set separate variables for things like color, then just put the variable name in the fill property of the control you want to change on the click of a button. then you would just set the value of your variable to the color you want a control to be filled with. Let me know if this made sense, if not I can try to provide a better explanation.
