I have an issue where users poulate a text box in a SharePoint column with multiple emails.  When they do this they sometimes put a comma instead of a dot or the move the email to the next line with the enter key.  This generates an error in my flows as the emails are now invalid.  Emails need to be seperated by a semi colon.  I cannot use a people field as emails can be outside the company domain.

try as I might I cannot contain the user to get it right so must look at a correction process on data entry.  I can capture the comma but how would I capture a return key entry in a flow?

I want to create a condition that checks the text box,  if those characters exist I at least get a warning email.  Ideally I will look at a replace.  But if I use condition how would I find the return key?

Are the users using SharePoint to capture this data or PowerApps?

If the former, then it seems like your best bet would be post-processing cleanup with expressions in flow -not ideal, and prone to errors as you really have no control over what the user is entering so you'd have some pretty complicated expression combinations - you also have the disadvantage of only knowing something is wrong after it's been captured, which makes for messy exception management and a potentially negative user experience.

If you're using PowerApps to capture the info, then you can do field validation on the form up front with regex to ensure the user is entering email addresses and you can concatenate them with ';' for submission into SPO....

I posted this in poweapps by mistake,  but it is relevant. I have reposted in Flow as well.  If I were using power apps I belive I would be able to fix,  but this issue relates to users oustide of the Business so I have to use a third party product for input.  In this case I use Cognito Forms,  which Flow picks up new entries and passes to SharePoint.

I am looking at how to create an error catch on the form first but not so simple as well.  Thanks for looking at this

Which column do you use to store the Email address in your SP list? Multiple lines of Text type column?

Do you want to capture the return key from the column of your SP List within your flow?

I have made a test on my side on my side, if you want to capture the return key from the column of your SP List within your flow, I afraid that there is no way to achieve your needs in Microsoft Flow currently.

Please consider use a specific character (e.g. comma, semicolon, etc) as separator to separate the email addresses within the column in your SP list.

nks for this I was not aware of this new product an will be looking at it very closely.  The current process is getting very big so I may need to look at moving.  This could help with that costly decision
