Checklist app help - Linking a text input in a gallery to a column in sharepoint and resetting data

Hello,

I felt i was making good progress but now i have come to a bit of grinding halt and looking for some help.

I'm making an inspection checklist app for wood working machinery that gets done once a week, I'm using sharepoint to store all the questions that need to be asked during the inspection .It was my understanding that if you want to do this for lots of different machines that have different questions i would need to use a gallery to do this. I currently have  several gallery's set up that link to the various machines that have a check box function that seems to be working. I was looking to add text input section to a notes column in the same sharepoint list but don't know how to go about this.

Also once i have completed the checklist and got a PDF report  (still working on this ) i would like to be able to reopen the checklist and start from scratch going through the check boxes and entering notes again. Is there a way of resetting all of the data to allow for another entry?

Any help would be amazing,

Thanks,

Rob

Hi

No I think so far we are ok.

Ok for the Notes. Add a TextInput into the Gallery (row 1 in edit mode like you did for the Checkbox)

Please rename it Notes

Oh how do you trigger your Patch. did you say its on the OnCheck event of the Check Boxes? or do you have a SubmitForm or a Patch in a button?

Then change your patch

Patch(Questions, ThisItem,
   {
     Complete: Self.Value,
    Notes: Notes.Text //assuming the notes is called this and its set to Multilines of text
}
)

Hello,

Apologies I don't fully follow. Do you have multiple screens? Why do you have multiple Galleries, versus one that is filtered by the Machine Type? Either way hehe please see below.

Do you want to display a Text Input onto each Gallery "Row" so they can put data into it, then write the data into, well wherever you are writing it (SharePoint)?

Or are you putting Notes in SharePoint questions, that they can READ but not change on each row?

Are you using SubmitForm to save things?

Hi and thanks for replying so quickly.

So I was sent down this path of multiple screens and gallery's by another users help and thought this was the correct way to do this. Is there another (better) way to have create a checklist inspection for each machine that would "easily" generate a report for the data that has been entered?

I didn't use a form for the questions that get asked, I opened a gallery and used

Filter(Questions,Catagory ="Extractor")

to get the questions i was being asked. I then added a checklist to the gallery and used

Patch(Questions,ThisItem,{Complete: Self.Value})

 to check the Yes/no column.  When i run the app and check the boxes it ticks the boxes on the sharepoint list so i thought i had it. I have a notes section and i think its like what you said, text Input onto each Gallery "Row" so they can put data into it, then write the data into sharepoint list.

Again if there is a better way im all open to trying anything.

Thanks again,

Rob

Do you want to display a Twell wherever you are writing it (SharePoint)?

Hello,

That worked great!

I wonder if you can assist me on another matter? How would i be able to use these gallery's with the questions, check boxes and notes to populate a report form? I currently have a data table with the sharepoint list displaying the data and then i was thinking the PDF button to create and save the report to a location within sharepoint, But i don't think this is the right thing as i want to create a new report form every time with new values. Have you had experience with this?

thanks again,

Rob

He 🙂

Can you start this on a new question and just @FLMike so that I can answer there. Wanna make sure people can search these independently

Hope thats cool
