I don't think I can find a solution to this elsewhere, so here goes. I am trying to create a 3 tier collapsible gallery within PowerApps. The aim of the gallery is to show a full cost breakdown of my company's projects.
The gallery would look as follows:
PROJECT NAME: Skyscraper Refurbishment. Sum: £5,000,000
Project Cost Breakdown:
Superstructure: £2,000,000
Substructure: £1,500,000
Building Services: £1,500,000
Building Services Cost Breakdown:
Gas: £750,000
Water: £250,000
Data: £500,000
Data Breakdown:
Fiber cable routing: £50,000
Fiber cable connection to existing services: £250,000
Fiber cable protection: £200,000
Hopefully this makes sense. The idea is that if someone clicks on an item within the top gallery, it expands to reveal that item's cost breakdown (in this case, Building Services). So far, so good; this is totally feasible using Powerapps subgalleries.
But if the item concerned needs to be broken down? In the example above, the 'Data' element of Building Services needs to be broken down into its cost elements. Currently, I cannot find a way of doing this within Powerapps.
I should also note that I like to use galleries for this sort of data as the sheer level of info contained in our records makes a scrollable environment (gallery or otherwise) very welcome! Also, using collections, I need to be able to expand/collapse multiple sections, so anything requiring a simple '.selected' conditional statement can't solve this issue (I use collections to address this issue).
I'm sure there's a solution out there...can anyone assist? Thanks!
Hi @Anonymous ,
I'm afraid there's no way to expand/collapse gallery currently in PowerApps.
I suggest you express your views about adding this function on PowerApps Ideas Forum. Your precious feedback will be very helpful for our work.

I figure out an alternative way, maybe you could refer this:
using a display form to display the information in details.
Here's my test:
1)insert a gallery, a display form.
2)insert a "+" button and a "x" button inside the gallery
set "+" button's OnSelct:
Set(var1,true)
set "x" button's OnSelect:
Set(var1,false)
3)Set the display form's Item:
Gallery1.Selected
Set the display form's Visible:
If(var1,true,false)
Then, the gallery will only display streamlined information, the display form will not be visible by default.
If you click the "+" button, the display form will display information in details.
If you click the "x" button, the display form will disapper.
Best regards,
@v-yutliu-msft Hi, thanks but unfortunatley this doesn't solve the issue as all it does is hide/reval the second gallery. Is there a way to filter irrelevant information from the second gallery (since the datasource for this gallery will otherwise be holding a lot of irrelevant data)?
Also, can the second gallery somehow be kept within a scrollable environment? Eg: if item 15 is selected within Gallery 1, I need to make sure the second gallery appears next to Item 15 and not simply at an arbitrary point within the canvas.
Thanks.
@Anonymous
Would you be OK with using a single gallery with drilldown capabilities? Expand and collapse is not doable as @v-yutliu-msft metioned but you can make a drilldown if your data is structured correctly (though it is somewhat complex).
If this sounds like something you are interested in let me know. I might be able to put together a tutorial using sample data which you could adapt to your own purpose.
The app would look something like this...
